Thats exactly the point! To reconfigure these streets to accomodate other forms of travel beyond exclusively the automobile. As they are currently designed the automobile is the only priority. Connect Atlanta documents cover this issue extensively.

Also there is a third access point to Buford in Midtown from Peachtree just south of the interstate.
