Sure, if our downtown population doubles, I can see something like an interchange being needed, but that won't be happening in the near (within 10-15 years) future. What does the city need to maintain a healthy and safe traffic infrastructure in this time frame (we want to think far enough into the future to plan for growth but not too far so that we are gambling money)?

Wow, why don't you just list my name and my "dumb" ideas, as it's obvious as to who has suggested them... And where have I said ever that these things are immediately needed? Please go back and quote me!!! A double left turn lane sure... but where's the needed room? If you're gonna do that, then why not expand the intersection to include double turn lanes, a right turn access and egress lanes, and almost unimpeded 3 lane N/S movement. The interchange is years away!!!

Quite a few projects I haven't heard of but are definitely needed here. Anyone have any other suggestions that haven't been listed? (That are actually warranted, and don't involve the building of a freeway through the city)
Also, I don't think it was updated much, but there is a newer version of the road network plan here. The 2007 Traffic Flow Map is also available here.

Again ha, ha! I clarified the need for an expressway, DOWNTOWN in the end. Expressways can certainly have intersections on them! EX: The Lewvan Dr.
Expressway. I did not say that this was needed immediately either. Please don't twist what I say! I am thinking for the future, I'm not talking 10 or 20 years even! You have to think ahead, otherwise you get trapped within certain situations that you cant reverse. A good example of this is Calgary, and I'm sure that they won't disagree and wouldn't disagree!
This info is interesting nonetheless, but it seems dated. I'm sure some projects have been fasttracked despite the labour problems. I'm also sure some of the city's road projects have either been altered or just weren't included in this article..
But hey thanks for the info anyways....
