Exactly, that's what I mean. There isn't enough demand (including yield) at this very moment for AC to justify using a priceless FRA slot operating YEG-FRA. Doesn't mean it won't happen in the future, in fact I wouldn't be suprised if YEG had its own FRA flight within 5 years if growth remains steady.
It's not just about passenger numbers, it's about money. Sure YEG may be able to fill a 767 every day to FRA, but can it generate more money than a 767 operating to FRA from another Canadian city?
Eg:
City A= YEG
City B= Another Candian city.
City A demand= 200pax/day average
City B demand= 200pax/day average
City A average yield= $1000/pax
City B average yield= $1500/pax
Slots available at FRA= 1
Who do you think will get the flight?
If AC has limited aircraft to play with then they will put that aircraft on ANY route that would out perform YEG-FRA.
It's way more than just pure passenger numbers. Even if YEG could fill the planes, it doesn't mean it'll generate more money for the airline than using the aircraft on another route. There's other factors involved too like airport handling costs that vary from airport to airport. But when a another city gets a flight that YEG wanted there's a real economical reason for it, it's not a conspiracy to shun service away from YEG
