I wouldn't expect retail at all. It will be a lifeless building if it's housing generators. But it will be better than a parking lot.

They still could have some foresight and build to allow retail on the ground. Maybe, the rent could go towards paying for the building and not increase rates.

My Dad's an electrician, who heard it from a head Fiorante guy. They are one of the developers on the project. It looks like 2 - 3 condo buildings, the ones that are 3 to 4 stories in height are what's planned this summer. No towers mentioned yet As well he has heard from a Dundee guy that all the first 100 + Harvard Landing have sold out. So he usually has a lad time and an idea what his company will be doing soon

If you're referring to the one between Broad St. Crossing and The Wingate, yeah i'ts ugly, at least put some stucco on it. What were they thinking is what I'd like to know!!! Wow! A new Sasktel building!! I'm hoping for retail in the bottom, such a prime location, possibly a court yard retail environment, as it would increse foot traffic here and should spin off benefits to all the surrounding businesses, offices and condos. Here's to dreaming, dream out loud!!

Given that lot is roughly 40m x 30m (downtown city blocks are roughly 80m west-east and 170m north-south), a 350m^2 building will only take a quarter of that lot. I expect it will be built right against the existing Sasktel building, most likely as a square block towards the back southeast corner of the lot. There will be plenty of surface parking left.

Mayor Fiacco just mentioned on the Wolf104.9 that the Mosaic Stadium renovations will likely total $60-80 million dollars and once the renderings are released, it will look like a brand new stadium.

That said, I've always said since day 1 that the Riders should go the way of the Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, Harvard University, etc and expand on what we currently have for tradition, heritage, as well as overall atmosphere. Nobody can deny that the Mosaic Stadium experience far surpasses any other stadium in the CFL for atmosphere alone, so why not build on that??? Of course it won't be at the same luxury level as the new stadiums in GreenBay and Chicago, but this is a very big chunck of change and will in fact go a long ways into renovating our great stadium into the modern era. Great news for all Riders fans and citizens of Regina!!!

Dunno we will have to wait and see. Likely a mix of some public money (given that the city owns the stadium) as well as private and the Riders themselves.

That is 1/3 of the annual expenses of the city. How much will taxpayers being paying towards this "upgrade"? It seems that the stadium gets an "upgrade" every year.

If the city covers this completely, you are looking at a 30% increase in property taxes. How many people would be willing to pay that much?

This must be the allocation for the long term plan in say the next 10 - 15 years. The recent council meeting discussed upgrades of only $6M for this year.

$60-80 million for renovations? I'm probably part of the minority on this but if $60-80 million is being spent on renovations then they minds well go for the home run and build new. Build a 35,000 seat domed stadium that can serve it's purpose 365 days a year. This would really put Regina on the map for major concerts, conventions and events. It would be the only one of it's kind between Toronto and Vancouver. Just need $$$.

Yeah but as I came to work today, I looked at that lot...and it probably won't even fill half of the lot. And it will be connected to the existing building, which means that there will still be about 2 rows of parking between the new building and 11ave. I highly doubt it's going to be up to the sidewalk. I imagine they will simply attach it to the existing building and leave the 2 rows of parking closest to 11th ave for their vans and what not. It will probably face Lorne St.

Yup...that's dreaming. Considering what the building is going to house, and considering the size of the building and the size of the current parking lot...I don't anticipate this building to even make a difference on that corner. It will be set back behind a bit of parking, facing Lorne St. Quite possibly might not even have it's own entrance considering the 1855 entrance is on the north side of the existing building.
