I wasn't saying i would like to see the whole lot filled up with a "fatscraper'. Rather,, i will give you more detail on what i would like to see fill the entire lot. As you said in your post, and in your words, you would like to see a 4 story building that encompasses the entire lot. I would also like to see this. But with this i would like to see a 20+ floor building rising out of this 4 floor block.

Yes, that would be better.

I'd just like to see the entire lot developed, an L shaped building fronting Vic extending around the corner down Rose to Century Plaza. If the developer wants to toss in a tower...works for me!

Regina doesnt need a freeway it is easy to get from 1 side to another in 10 minutes , even Winnipeg doesnt need one, metro pop of 712000 it just needs to not have traffic lights at every intersection possible like some parts the the Peg has!!

I agree with not needing any more pizza joints in Regina every Labour Day we have western pizza and it is the best, one of the best highlights of Bomber Rider Labour Day weekend!!:

Isn't that lot owned by Harvard? And didn't the old parkade structure foundation remain?

If I were a developer, I would look for a location that wasn't just developed as a paved parking lot...a site that was more open to development, like the old theatre site on 11th and Albert, Along Sask Drive, Vic and Smith...basically any of the gravel or bareland sites availible in the downtown. There are lots of them.

I don't think Harvard owns the lot. The old Bay Parkade and the Bay actually had separate ownership even though the parkade sat right on top of the extended Bay Store basement level. You will recall that the Bay had a huge basement that extended all the way to Victoria Ave. The part not under the building was filled in although the foundation may still be there. Some of the Century Plaza tenants may use the surface lot although Century Plaza has 75 underground spaces.

Just a reminder about the upcoming free public open house for future-term Downtown planning, Wednesday, April 16, 6 – 9 p.m., at Knox Metropolitan Church, 2340 Victoria Avenue. It would be a good time to put forth some of your suggestions and see if the city can incorporate them into the grand scheme if you can attend!

Heh! We Reginans (some of us, anyways) tend to like Houston's Pizza for pizza!

Houston's is good...but Western's in the best. And actually, the TUMBLERS Western Pizza location as they use different sauce. It is just flat out amazing pie.

Sorry to be off-topic again ... while we're on the subject ... my wife misses her thin-crust pizzas from T.O. (Pizza-Pizza used to make a thin crust, but not anymore!) Anybody have ideas which place has around here?

Alfredo's does (or at least they did downtown) and I'm pretty sure Copper Kettle does thin crust.

Thanks BrannyMuffin! We haven't been back to Copper Kettle in a while! I couldn't remember if they did have thin-crust! (Tells you how much pizza we really eat!) They have (or had?) a great Sunday brunch!

It's sad how some of our Regina based chains have little to no presence downtown e.g. Brewsters and Houston Pizza.

Yes indeed, and I think they would do fantastic downtown. Brewsters reminds of Earls and I think that type of eatery is poorly represented downtown. There really isn't a lounge type restaurant downtown. Beer Brothers is really the first, and I think it will do well, but it's a higher price range than Brewtsers/Earls.

I would love to see the big Triffons somewhere in the heart of Regina, maybe on 11th. A place for office workers to go after work and during lunch. Something nice, with a patio would be great!!

Triffons is one of my favorite Regina institutions.

I hit it up twice last summer on my trip to the Peg.

Western Pizza has two downtown locations and Trifon's has one. There is no shortage of pizza places in Regina.

There's one on...Cornwall, I think? Across from the Bay. Isn't that whole building being renovated?
