So how can Lake Placid develop a "130,000-square-foot office component will feature two five-storey towers" as reported by the Calgary Herald? Perhaps the city modified the restrictions? or the Calgary article is not accurate?
Maybe it is neither...
By building two five storey towers, Lake Placid could max out the 50,000 sq foot restriction for each tower and leave the ground floor as retail/restaurant which accounts for an additional 30,000 sq feet or 15,000 sq feet for each tower.
Hmmm, I don't know what to make of all this. In some ways it is good for the site and downtown, but I can't help but feel led on by the realtors who made an announcement of one maybe two office towers for Saskatoon and we are left thinking that this refers to two towers at 5 storeys a piece...what kind of claim is that. I suppose a lesson learned, anything hinted should be met with skepticism...maybe there's a 30 storey tower in the works, but perhaps it is located near the airport!
Another question to consider, the realtor previously stated the construction of one or two office buildings would justify an increase in downtown office lease rates, can that also be said for the construction of two 5 storey office towers, total of 100,000 sq feet?
