300 is an obvious improvement on this site, for sure, but I do miss the red neon sign and how it added to the desolation of the parking garage. gave the city a film noir vibe that seemed to be from another era.

Wow, I think that is an old El column from the former stub terminal that used to exist over Carroll Avenue.

I can see what he's getting at. Its not skyscrapers that define a city, as much as we may love them..its the little intangibles that most people overlook. I'm not saying the parking garage was anything worth saving. But the sign was cool and one of those often ignored sights that give you a sense of place. Glitzy office buildings that your average Joe will never step inside does not a city make.

Don't get me wrong - I love neon and liked the old "Parking" sign, too - I just find the redundancy of it all amusing.

I think I saw some giant capital red letters at Architectural Artifacts a few years ago... they have probably been sold by now.

They are really cruising on this building. The crane is really getting up there in height. I'm liking the facade more with the application of greater quantities of it and more sun.

Some updates:

The core is at 41. Those embeds on caroll street have been installed. 41 through 43 is a transfer floor of sorts. there will be X brace beams connecting to the core at 41 and 43. We will put more of those embeds in at 43.

After that, the 4 cell concrete core will become a 2 cell core. It will take 2 weeks or less to reconfigure the core system. Then we are contractually obligated to perform a 3 day cycle on the core.

Of course, less concrete means more structural members, I forsee some difficulty keeping the ironwork on pace with the core. The core cannot be raised above the counterweights on the north tower crane. So far we have been stalled a total of 6 weeks waiting for that crane to be out of the way throughout various stages in the construction.

Great insider information. I'm surprised to hear that you guys have been delayed by the crane, it seems like this project is flying skywards. Keep up the great work. By the way, what part of the crew do you work on or are you management?
