I'm going to wait until we have more than just a few floors of partially broken up (by that little balcony thing and the change in size) facade installed before judging it. I don't think it makes sense for anyone to say "the facade looked good in the small scale on the mockup, but doesn't look as good on the building" when only like 2% of the building has been cladded.
Architects are trained (if all goes well) to understand these things when they are not fully complete, how they will eventually look. This also comes with experience. How else do you expect people to understand the proportion and impact of something before it's 785' in the sky? That's what architects are for.
If you look closely at the renderings, the "fins" dont really protrude that much anyways from the lower levels, its not until you get to the top half that they really start making an impace on the appearence of the building.

Very cool. I noticed some posts a little while back in this thread that were complaining about how the fins that are apparent in the render are apparently not as noticeable or may have been part of some value-engineering to cut costs. Is it possible that as the building gets higher and those tiny setbacks start that the fins will become more pronounced until they give us that nice parapet-style crown effect at the top?
Wow that is so cool! It looks to be almost halfway TO or close to it! Do you think you could possibly do that same process for the Trump Tower and post it on that forum?

If you look back through the pages of the Trump thread, you will find some that have been posted by 'ghost'. I'm not sure how recently I have seen one done by him on that thread however.
