It wouldn't surprise me if YEG could already handle the A380. I do hope it's capable of doing so, even if we won't see any A380 service within out lifetime. What if somewhere over the Arctic, some fool decides to get really drunk and gives the passengers and crew a hard time, or somebody gets a heart attack or some other serious medical problem?

A corporate image overhaul for YEG wouldn't surprise me in the least.

But I can't imagine atm what YEG would get that'd make YYC jealous - especially while YYC already has a lot of things that makes YEG so jealous!

^i do know rebranding is coming Q1...but perhaps it is a port alberta announcement because YYC cant really compete with that?

So rebranding as Port Alberta is good, but can someone explain to me how an Airport on a CP line is supposed to leverage a Port on the CN line? Is Port Alberta really just a branding exercise, and nothing more tangible than a Cargo Apron expansion?

Can they really do anything beyond developing an air centric trade park?

Or perhaps CP decided to leave the rail yards in southern Edmonton just east of Gateway? (Which would be great by the way, in providing additional revenue to the airport)

^CP has a very large new intermodal site bought and ready to develop on 41ave SW just east of the QE2 which is not very far from YEG.

^ooooooohh... with that intermodal site, that might actually be a possibility!

If that indeed is the announcement, I imagine increased commercial/freight traffic at YEG would create a bigger regional enemy in Leduc County.

Somebody just told that one of the reasons why there is no public transit, BRT or LRT, out to YEG is that the taxi drivers revolted. I was just at YEG waiting to get a taxi into the city and the cars were there but the drivers had buggered off! If that's how much the taxi drivers appreciate their precious airport fares then it's high time ETS puts in some sort of service to YEG and forget the lazy taxi drivers and their whining!

Throw us a bone ......when is the big announcement?

What does it have to do with? Airport expansion/ Courtyard Marriot/ Increased aircraft service, Int (Asia, Europe)/ Transborder/ Domestic?/ New Airlines, aircraft/ Muni closing (someday maybe)/ New restaurant?

At least tell us when the announcement will be made so I can turn this G.D. computer off, then on.

The NE LRT line in Calgary is actually going to be moving in a northeasterly direction from it's current terminus, not northwesterly, which would be towards the airport.

I'd be curious to know if Calgary Transit has done some market analysis on whether there would be more customers using an airport line vs a Saddleridge line.
