It is on the train. If you look very closely, it's below the windshield wiper on the tails and it's also on the sides next to the doors. Watch CTV News at 6, they did a pretty good job reporting it. Click this link
http://www.vancouvertelevision.com/index.jsp, then click View Streaming News and then click Friday....the train segment is about 12 minutes into the program.
It shows that the trains use the same "ding dung dong" sound as SkyTrain, and from what I can tell in the news clip the voice announcements (which use the same Translink female voice) are loud and very clear - better and clearer than the Mark series cars. Besides the LED destination signs on the tails of the trains, there are also LED destination signs on the side exteriors. And the interior LED train station signs look great as well.
The trains should also be much smoother than the SkyTrain vehicles as they have some sort of air suspension stabling system.
And apparently, the 20 trains will cost just over $100 MILLION, which is justified considering the higher quality, larger size, and higher capacity. Which goes against the original media report of $60 million a few months ago. Compare that figure to the cost of Translink's order for 34 Mark II SkyTrain cars in 2009 at $113 million.
Canada Line individual vehicle cost: ~$5 million each
SkyTrain Mark II individual vehicle cost: $3.3 million each
