Anyways, what was wrong with the original red, blue and yellow Canada Line colour scheme? It would have worked.

Kind of like a regression back to the BC Hydro Transit colours of the 1960's.

Anyhow, i think there's been a somewhat huge improvement over the leaked rendering. I would definitely prefer the entire train to be painted, but i think i'm developing a liking for this new livery. I wonder if our comments had anything to do with some of the changes.

One thing that puzzles me though is how the train capacity is now 400 passengers, an increase from 334 passengers when first unveiled....that's quite substantial, even if the vehicles are wider and longer than the Mark II's.

Anyhow, I'm impressed! But how could I have missed the unveiling!!!! *headdesk* stupid exam.

i think the new ferries would've been better if they had painted it with VANOC's blue/green colour scheme with rocks/trees/people (like the lampost banners and on their website) instead of actual pictures....nevertheless, i think they're still impressive. and it's possible that they might do that for SkyTrain, transit buses, the Canada Line, etc. come 2010.

the old red/blue/yellow Canada Line scheme would have aged terribly.

well, at least with the old Canada Line font it would. i just wasn't that much of a fan of the old red/yellow/blue swoosh...it was a bit too much, and a little retro looking.

i'd like to know, however, what has since changed with the train design that capacity is now 400 passengers instead of 334 passengers as previously announced.

lol, it's definitely temporary. if you look closely, it illustrates the cut and cover/bored tunnel/at-grade/elevated portions of the line (as if a passenger needs to know that :p) and it's definitely the same map as the one on the website.

haha, sorry but that's just not the honest and right thing to do....and besides, i received the e-mail late yesterday, and they invited me because over the past few months i've been in touch with the InTransitBC project office.

...and you wouldn't want to be pretending to be me unless you looked or are Chinese.

It is on the train. If you look very closely, it's below the windshield wiper on the tails and it's also on the sides next to the doors. Watch CTV News at 6, they did a pretty good job reporting it. Click this link http://www.vancouvertelevision.com/index.jsp, then click View Streaming News and then click Friday....the train segment is about 12 minutes into the program.

It shows that the trains use the same "ding dung dong" sound as SkyTrain, and from what I can tell in the news clip the voice announcements (which use the same Translink female voice) are loud and very clear - better and clearer than the Mark series cars. Besides the LED destination signs on the tails of the trains, there are also LED destination signs on the side exteriors. And the interior LED train station signs look great as well.

The trains should also be much smoother than the SkyTrain vehicles as they have some sort of air suspension stabling system.

And apparently, the 20 trains will cost just over $100 MILLION, which is justified considering the higher quality, larger size, and higher capacity. Which goes against the original media report of $60 million a few months ago. Compare that figure to the cost of Translink's order for 34 Mark II SkyTrain cars in 2009 at $113 million.

Canada Line individual vehicle cost: ~$5 million each
SkyTrain Mark II individual vehicle cost: $3.3 million each

I like the chime on Toronto's subway. It's the same as the first three notes of the Sesame Street theme tune.

I've actually started whistling the Sesame St. theme after hearing it on the train.

be honest Mr X.....how many times have you pulled it over the new train pics?

I'm glad you didn't go to the event......clad in a trench coat.....jerking away

but if you were in that room at the OMC....I know the first thing you would bring up to anyone within earshot (after jerking off a few times) was .........

maybe they should use the first few notes of our anthem as the chime instead, afterall this is the "Canada Line".

HAHA Moi aussi =D Thank god I'm not the only chinese freak here XP

Now here is what I'm confused: if they are changing the Canada Line colours to Blue/Green, does that mean the colour of the line is green and not red? Wonder what will happen with the Evergreen Line, a different shade of green?! I still don't like the colour of the trains... the blue is VERY SHARP and sigh... Would have liked it if it was all nice and white like our Mark IIs OR Make it look like our buses, dark grey, blue yellow lines (or in this case blue/green).

I like how the voice and chimes are exactly the same as the current SkyTrain system.
