yeah, I saw a sign up for that project about 2 weeks ago. I was going to sa something, but it completly slipped my mind. From the design posted on the giant billboard there, it looks like that POS 300k+ concrete condo near whyte that people were b*tching over approx. 1 month ago.

Edmonton (snicker) architects (snicker) give up all pretension and announce that all future designs in Edmonton will continue to be modeled on things they find floating (or not) in their toilets after a night of Mexican indulgence.
Murman, I would have been on your side if the Professional Building renovation didn't include an increase in office space and development of the gravel parking lot. Removal of a gravel parking lot supersedes the need to preserve the facade.

That's the funniest thing I've ever seen .... well, except for maybe the Dallas Stars missing the wide open net from three feet out, and then watching the Oilers take it back up ice to tie the game with two seconds left.
Tell me - Why would Mandel announce an office tower? Is he going to buy one? Did Mandel announce the Icon towers?
Sorry, I've heard this lots before. I'm doubtful the mayer would announce it. Perhaps further explain it to the public after the fact.... but not make it public.

As for the Professional building, I'm on the board of a heritage preservation group down here, and my personal mantra is to preserve what's beautiful, and save what's ugly, but get rid of what's boring. By ugly I mean things that were designed to look that way, tastes change.
That said, the new design also looks great, but I'm guessing the era of the original style has a lot less examples in town than the all glass clad replacement.
