I took the train from the airport yesterday home for the first time. I don't think I would rely on transit to GET to the airport, though.

I must have hit all the transfers at the right time. One minute wait at the airport. 12 mins at South Keys. One minute at Bayview. If I had hustled a bit more, I could have caught my bus to the Plateau at Wellington and Lyon and arrived about 20 mins sooner.

How long did it take you to get Downtown, and how long total?

About 40 mins to get to Lyon, then another 45 on the bus.

It was rush hour, though.. around 4:30/5 pm.. Saw a couple of buses at Wellington/Lyon not even stop because they were full.

40 minutes at rush hour is pretty competitive with other modes. Taxi would easily be 30+ at that time of day. Maybe even slower.

Inbound in the afternoon rush hour? 30 would be the top end. Probably closer to 20 most days.

You clearly don't spend much time on Bronson or the Parkway at rush hour. 20 minutes would be a best case from the airport to Lyon station with no traffic.

I'm right off of Bronson and directly on the route from the airport to Lyon station. The last time I came into the airport at rush hour (a month ago, before RTW4 or whatever we are at), it took me 30 minutes plus to my house, which is still 10-15 minutes short of downtown.

40 minutes to Lyon is pretty darn good. I've heard estimates of 50 minutes to an hour.

Bus back to Plateau was a right off in any scenario. One would hope the tramway, if ever built, could cut that down to 20 to 30 minutes.

The trains seemed to move in slow motion compared to Toronto or Montreal. I guess it is a safety concern or something.

I think there were 3 people on the train at the airport. Sad.

Carleton Station was pretty hopping, though.

The bus was rerouted due to the tour de Gatineau bike race, I think, so that might have delayed it a bit. The roundabouts on Allumettières were quite the bottleneck as they always are.

I really liked paying just $4.10 to get home, though.
