The London Manner project at London St and Kimberly Av is still stalled.

Only thing left on site is the Contractor site office trailer. I think the last tracked excavator left sometime last week.

At least somebody came by and reset the site security fence that had blown over in the early June thunderstorm that blew thew Valley Gardens.

I think their immediate focus is DSM, STNP and Provencher.

DSM feels like it's moving at a snails pace. They're finally getting close to finishing the styrofoam on the west elevation. Still need to do the north elevation, the fauxdium and the parkade. They've being clearing up the site, taking down some of the wooden structure. The construction elevator is down as well.

I noticed they have 4 swatches of grey paint on the north side where the elevator was. I guess they were testing colours to paint the exposed concrete sections.

I wonder if they bit off more than they can chew and are focusong solely on DSM to get some revenue flow going.

DSM is painting concrete a darker grey. They had 4 swatches up as a tester and went with the darkest one. Won't help the shitty finish on the styrofoam, which looks horrendous by the way. Sorry wrong thread.

Any word on the developer's ability to finish projects?

Of all their recent projects in development, phase 1 of 1918 St. Mary’s Road is the only one that has been completed.

I meant in terms of possible issues and whether they have been resolved. Sorry, I wasn't quite specific enough.

Given that all these projects appear to have ground to a halt, I was curious to know if there was any word on the health of the company.

Edit: appears that there are two claims currently filed against Carrington et al. One by a drywall company and one by another contractor of some sort. Both filed early May.

Buckle up folks.

Specific to DSM. They hauled loads and loads of drywall into the place, and were still working beyond the timeframe of the other projects stopping. I'm not quite sure if they finished up DSM. They were definitely near the top floor on suite finishings. But the top floor still has a window missing. So i don't know if they got to the top or stopped a floor or two down.

Since the construction lift is down. I assume they either got the materials up there and/or finished it off.

Picture from today. Looks like the stucco is mostly done now.

The original design was a lot nicer but in-person it looks okay. Looks very mid-century modern. Matches the other buildings in the area pretty well. I bet 10 years from now a lot of people won't even realize it's a new building.

It's filler. A C+ effort that gets you the credit. Not every building can be or needs to be a gem. I would take another half dozen of these to fill surface lots around the downtown (the lot in the foreground for example).

It looks like shite. I stare at this thing all day long. They've taken aaaaages to finish the stucco. They work on it in little bits. I'm assuming the contractor is doing work elsewhere and uses this project as filler for their crew.

When the light hits it at a long angle you can clearly see the surface is rough, done by hand, and again looks like garbage.

In 10 years from now it will look like ever shitier.

I think a big reason for the disappointment is because it was such a let down to go from the nice stately brick to the bland seasons of tuxedo box we see there now. The bar was set high and folks' expectations have not been met.
