Maybe they should have a spare ready for the next time some brain dead trucker or farmer runs into it.

This repair is probably costing more than the previous driver will make in a lifetime. It has got to be millions. Road closure is a bit late but should be soon, cranes up, truck on and lots of workers around.

Install slower than lift off truck couldn't get all on one battery. Did a swap and sent it back to start recording again. Understandably slow process.

26 GB of files recorded. Video adds up fast.

37 photos. Next to work on the videos. I'll probably head up there this even to get some close ups when everyone is gone. The 2x mode seemed to be behaving today. Traffic backup wasn't too bad, but I think once it was backed up to the eastbound exit people started heading over to the scales to do a u-turn. After uploading the photos I noticed most of them had a yellow tint, so I adjusted the colour temp and replace them on flickr. The drone can be weird, photos at the bypass site are often too warm, and photos of dirt are often too cold. For sites that are mostly dirt I almost always have to lower the colour temperature so the dirt is brown instead of grey. The thumbnails are still the original colour, flickr lets you swap out files in the gallery but it keeps the old thumbnails and generates new ones with a different url so as to not break links.

Longer / Faster version of lowering the girder: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHIzAe1eIW8

On the sped up videos the drone moves back and forth enough to be noticeably I should see if there is a way to stabilize that out.

Thank you! I would expect Costco paired with all the residential development in the SE part of Westerra that formal Pinkie access might happen sooner than later. It appears on Google that Wasacase Blvd would line up with the entrance to the Tims & gas station on the west side of Pinkie.

I do wish the city would have put a right turn from north bound Pinkie at Dewdney when they built the median last year. They just ate into the shoulder which disappears at the median. All it takes is one vehicle going straight to block right turning vehicles when the light is red. I asked the city about it as soon as it was built and they were dismissive saying the commercial area developer would have to pay for it if they felt they needed it.

Building permit report has another 88 Avana units across 7 buildings in Westerra. 20 million permit for the Douglas Park project.

CJME has a story that the GTH is buying the rail spur land back from Cargill. I guess it makes sense for that stuff to be in the hands of a public orgnanization instead of a private company as other companies might start using it.

I know Cargill has an extra loop not shown in that article. But I feel like GTH bought 41 acres of land and not 417 acres, unless they added the entire 1/2 mile of land to the West of the GTH.

ISC title map search shows the parcel with the rail loop as 116 acres by itself. They also own the west half the square bordered by Dewdney, Flemming Road, RgeRd 2211 and the CN line as two parcels one 144 acres and the other 157 acres. I didn't realized they owned so much north of Dewdney. Maybe buying the entire parcel was the easiest way to get the spur line built.

Thanks for that information. I didn’t think to look at land north of Dewdney on ISC.

I had the drone with me early this morning but wasn't planning to take many photos, which is good because it was too foggy for about 2/3 the time I was out. Foundation forms going up for the Wholesale Club McDonalds. Went over to Costco for what is becoming daily photos. Today they poured concrete for 11 more interior column bases and pulled the forms off the north stem wall. I ran the flight program to collect downward looking photos of the entire site and will compile them into a single image tomorrow. I changed the capture from every 3 seconds to every 5 which reduced the photos from 264 to 163. Once the steel is all up I should try a 3D one. Will need to add a second acquisition program for some diagonal photos.

Any chance you could get some photos of the work at Queen City Distillery? And the Aquatic Center if anything is happening there.

Still nothing going on at the Aquatic Centre when I was past there this week. Most of the Queen City Distillery work seems to be inside the building as the only work I noticed in the past few months was some footing work for the new entrance. I can get some pictures next time I'm through there.

This is from the city's aerial photos taken June 14th. I wonder if now that they bought the nearby buildings they'll extend the building back to merge with the ones behind it

I took a video loop around the site at 2x zoom. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axH9fDIBeEE

A large section of floor poured for the first building (mostly covered in plastic to keep the surface from drying). I think they've been doing more dirt hauling on weekends than during the week. No hurry prepping that last pad since they haven't started pile drilling on the 5th one yet.

The processed Costco mosaic from yesterday. Elevated stuff like the steel gets distorted due to changes in perspective parallax. Including diagonal photos for processing might help with that.

In the software you can also view a 3D model and enable the position of the camera for each photo / click on a camera to see the photo from that location.

Starting another row at Costco today. The work at the east side of Westerra might be the 7 Avana buildings not the larger facility I thought it might have been. Some top soil scraping near Pinkie Road south of Wheat Crescent. Its not along the path for the road yet, but maybe they will start working on that. I went past the school in Rosewood and the exterior on it looks to be the same as what they are doing for the new harbour landing school, brick on the bottom and corrugated metal upper.

Foundation poured for Wholesale Club McDonalds. The Toronto & 15th project sat idle for a month, a month ago they added the 4th floor ICF blocks but nothing since. They didn't even do the 4th floor wall concrete pour.

For the Queen City Distillery they may have paused work at the original location since they are moving it to a different building. The Lewvan Crossing Shoppers is moving quite slowly, they haven't started insulating the roof / applying the roof membrane yet.

Working on the Costco again today so I'll get more photos this evening and probably a video. While riding down Dewdney I noticed that pole bases for traffic lights at Dewdney & Horizons Way were installed.

Took a video of the 11th Ave work.

Most of the second row of steel up.

Video around the Costco site. The wind was causing a little trouble towards the end. The drone can't fly as fast sideways as the camera doesn't have as much side to side movement as up / down so the drone limits the tilt to maintain a level image, tilt determines speed and when there is wind a certain amount of tilt is neccessary to just stay in the same spot (sometimes the full amount of tilt).

It's amazing how fast a whole overpass can be demolished and rebuilt compared to the fiasco on the bypass overpass.
