Despite Keith's proclivity to be somewhat brash when speaking about disadvantaged groups (or cyclists), I strongly agree with him here. This project was never about affordable housing, it was about redeveloping the core of the city. There is no city in the world where the downtown core is an appropriate location for low-density non-market housing, or where the land values make sense as such. Capitalism is our reality like it or not; better to make it work for us than to work against us.
