That is a wild location for a hotel but I guess it will be priced accordingly. I would hate to be a tourist who booked unwittingly.

There's already a new Kalido hotel that opened in March a block away on Columbia, and assuming the reviews on Expedia and booking.com are real, it's not getting much negative comment so far. There's also a proposed new hotel planned at 80 Powell.

It's probably a better situation than the unwitting tourists who would book into the Patricia Hotel a few years ago, and then discover that there were only a handful of tourist rooms, with all the others run as an SRO.

Wow... i had no idea that one could book the Patricia Hotel! Scary thought

They put up the East facing one but I still think the North one is next to be replaced.

1. Retain and restore the existing 6 storey Nelson, Thurlow, and first bay of lane facades of the heritage building, including the entry courtyard facades.
2. Remove all existing interior wood supporting structure and construct all new concrete structure, foundations, elevator and exit core.
3. Reconstruct and restore the original 7th floor heritage facade and cornice to match the scale, massing and appearance of the original 1910 heritage building.
4. Add additional residential floors at level 8 to 13, and another floor at level 14 to provide access to mechanical spaces, a common interior amenity space and outdoor roof terrace.
5. Construct a new basement level to accommodate additional bike parking, storage and mechanical / electrical spaces.

The former Clifton Hotel SRO is becoming an actual, boutique hotel on. After a lot of commercial hotels to SROs, it's needed that we are seeing real hotel rooms come back to the troubled street.
