That's it folks. The dream of expanding the Port of Churchill is all but dead, if it were ever a realistic plan in the first place. I expect MB will receive a few crumbs of left-over "nation building" money here and there, plus a pat on the head and a participant ribbon for being a good little trooper, but nothing that will actually advance the economy significantly.
What's especially frustrating is that Manitoba is basically in a trap. Yes, we have minerals, but we don't seem to have anything in the vast quantities that seem to justify "nation-building" money from the government. We only represent a small handful of seats in parliament, so we don't have much political pull. The thought of joining with pro-Trump bootlickers like PP, Smith or Moe to get some political leverage makes me sick to my stomach. It looks like whatever Manitoba is able to do to build it's economy, it will have to do by itself.
Big, big challenges ahead.
