I agree with this as well. There's been some positive news on proposed developments at Centreport, and I'd rather our existing power go to projects like that.

I note that the proponents of the rejected project are bit players. Jet.ai only has a $10 million market cap. They do not have the resources to pull this off. I am sure this was a main factor in Kinew's decision, despite the populist language that he used.

The massive quantities of oil, potash and uranium under the ground that made those places "have" provinces was not put there by their "mindset". Manitoba has had conservative governments with the same "mindset" as Alberta and Saskatchewan, and during none of those times did the province have an economic boom to make it a "have" province.

Everyone in Manitoba keeps complaining about how we don’t have what our neighbours have then actively tells businesses who want to come set up here that we’re not interested. Data centres will come to Manitoba eventually, but not until all of our neighbours have attracted the big players and there’s not much left for us. What I find more disturbing than the specific denial of ai (which is really stupid and Luddite) is the general hostility demonstrated which will put companies on notice that Manitoba isn’t interested in doing business. ‘We were born here what’s your excuse’ is starting to seem like a self fulfilling prophecy, where our defeatist attitude actively deters people from seeing the positives here.

MB gives $4000 EV rebate on all makes except Tesla, why? Wab & his crew hate Elon Musk, pure & simple. Does he know all the owners of GM, Toyota, Hyundai, Kia, etc and ok with them? Excluding 1 mfg because Musk owns them, is arrogant & narcissistic.

Nah I think if the head of your company is openly courting neo-nazi political parties in Europe and working with an administration that openly threatens Canada's sovereignty that is more than enough basis to sanction them. I'm sure GM execs all donated to Trump too but Musk actually held a position in the administration - which itself was an entry in a long list of ethically and legally dubious behaviour from him which is all the more reason to single out his company. Manitoba shouldn't do business with shady companies.

For all I know the heads of other auto companies also believe in replacement theory and other nazi talking points. But at least they are smart enough to keep their mouth shut about it and not sabotage their own company.
