The existing building will be renovated and expanded for offices and a hoped-for grocery store, and the shorter north tower will occupy a parking lot on the north end of the block.

It's an ambitious plan being led by a local booster who has a growing portfolio of key downtown properties and is very bullish on Saskatoon's prospects. I doubt he has the capital to pull this off on his own as he has with some smaller projects. He'll need a partner and some stars aligning.

Saskatoon takes its name from the Cree word misâskwatômina (or Mis-sask-quah-too-mina), which refers to a berry that grows locally.
Thanks for info Echoes. I forgot to ask or maybe it was mentioned - is it rental or condos? As long as the demand is there for the price point they're offering, but that depends on the vacancy rate and condo market. A good indicator will be Baydo and how long that takes to lease out but this new project looks to be in a different league, which may help or may not? Looking forward to following this one, and don't forget to keep your Saskatoon pictorial tours coming!
