I suspect nothing for a couple of years at least.
I still think a 55 Queen type building would be great for this location. Their plans had called for a hotel, so why not do residential above. This would create some height, and maximize the usage of the land. Just my take.

Signage is now up for Gem Studio in Tannery Place North. There is only one vacant CRU in all of the Tannery Place complex.

I’m not sure the significance but they were putting in electrical poles in where the junction hall will be today.

Very interesting.

Originally, Home 2 Suites by Hilton was supposed to be built there, but then they erected a "coming soon" sign out next to the Hampton Inn at the Mapleton exit off the TCH.

Last fall however, they dismounted the Home 2 Suites sign out there. Could they have reconsidered and are they moving back to the Junction Village.........

Hmmmm........

I really hope the Junction proponents haven't given up on this development. It's such a great location, and so far I'd say it's been a success.

Even if the market for a full Home 2 Suites hotel has softened, I think that a smaller version within a mixed-use building would work. Why not combine residential, retail, and hotel into one building? (a la 55 Queen)

Just my thoughts.

They were just fixing a power outage. At least two transformer boxes were up in smoke.

A false alarm then (metaphorically speaking and slightly ironically) - too bad........

They are currently actively physically landscaping the lot on the SW corner of Main/Vaughan Harvey.

This is pretty damned good evidence that they have no intention of developing this lot anytime soon.

This of course leaves the lot immediately adjacent to the GoodLife building. This will likely be developed next. The key question is when???

It sucks they aren’t doing anything yet, but this will be much nicer. I have been thinking the empty lots they have should be turned into park spaces for the tennants of the buildings. Then when they time comes they can develop the land.

A 10-storey tomato plant that throws shade across the neighbourhood.

It seems like the vibrant "urban village" concept has fizzled out.

What was the plan for the Junction land towards Jonathan Creek? Was Ivan Rand supposed to parallel the tracks and get a bridge? A ton of this land is CN-owned and they're clearly not doing anything with the portion east of the creek.

Yes.

Currently Ivan Rand has two stubs, The plan was to connect them and have a development corridor.

Of course this would take decades, but, Westmount and DuParc (the developers) seem to have some cold feet at present.

It really would have been a natural extension of the Junction. That large asphalt area next to the car dealership could also be a mixed use development area. But yes they have cold feet which is unfortunate, considering how strong the market has been.
