Thanks for that, many of those newsstands still around mentioned in this article I am unfamiliar with!
Bookstores and supermarkets used to have magazine and/or newspaper areas in them and those are rare as well.

Not only newsstands and record/music stores, but video stores and coffee shops...all the places where actual human connections were to be had. If you say "coffee shop" now, most people think you mean a place like Starbuck's or Coffee Bean, not a restaurant like Ship's or Ben Frank's or Norm's. There's hardly any Denny's still around; I can only think of one in the area where there used to be a few more. Even WeHo's 1969 IHOP is gone now.
