In USSR not meeting u realistic deadline were brutally punisher. And were driven by fear. Still happening today.

Called it.

Funny thing is they did such a sloppy job with the asphalt that it will probably be repaved in the spring.

The Royal Ave on-ramp closes on Monday. The week long full closure will then be in early February.

The medallions have been installed on the tops of the towers along with the name on the crossbeam.
I didn't have time for pictures, sorry.

I took a few shots yesterday but didn't notice that they had been installed until later. I would have gotten a better line of sight had I known.

My pictures from Sunday, 8-Feb-2026:

So it was just the mounting, not the full medallion, that I saw.

That looks like the medallion will be back lit.

New video with more detailed shots of the artwork

That blue on the crossbeam looks like it's some kind of plastic film. Maybe that artwork is some kind of paint.

It looks like panels that have been fastened to the concrete.

Would have been nice if there were pylons at the bridge entrance which would be more visible to drivers.

I posted the other call for artists document earlier in this thread but this one has more details on the medallion/lower leg artwork specifications. They also wanted to install heat tracing to deal with snow/ice.

"The downstream locations will be Musqueam art, while the upstream locations will be Kwantlen art."

Interesting they use foam on the bridge approach sections as fill. 10,000 m³ of EPS because of peat which might settle with earth fill.

This is the full length animation of the bridge construction

They're going to take it apart piece by piece, pretty much in reverse order to how it was constructed.

They should start with the north and south approaches so they can finish the on- and off-ramps on the new bridge as soon as possible.
