These are the plans for that site, from google
The former Angels Knoll park in Downtown Los Angeles is slated for a major redevelopment known as Angels Landing, a $1.6-$2 billion project featuring two high-rise towers with luxury hotels, condos, and apartments. Designed by Handel Architects, the project will include a 63-story tower—potentially making it one of the city's tallest—and a 42-story tower, along with a, public plaza.
Key Details on the Angels Landing Project:
Location: The site is located at 4th and Hill Streets, adjacent to the Angel's Flight railway.
Development Plan: The project aims to include 432 residential units, two luxury hotels, 72,000 sq. ft. of retail/restaurant space, and a public park called "Angels Terrace".
Status & Hurdles: Although the project received city approvals and was slated for completion around the 2028 Olympics, it has faced delays and litigation, with reports in late 2025 suggesting the city terminated the agreement and the site might face a new, possibly public, auction.
Developers: The project was awarded to a team including MacFarlane Partners, The Peebles Corporation, and Claridge Properties.
While originally proposed to transform the former park into a vibrant, mixed-use space, the project's future has been clouded by ongoing financial and development challenges as of late 2025.

I'd heard about this almost a decade ago.

Deezen

According to the Wikipedia site:
Angels Landing is a cancelled development complex in Downtown Los Angeles, California, that was the result of a public bidding process. The site's publicized, but never realized, development plans consisted of two traditional high-rise buildings and an outdoor park. The site is currently the subject of litigation between Angels Landing Partners and the City of Los Angeles. The development team has a controversial history of stalled or incomplete projects with no high-rise development and experience and their ambitious proposal had little real world potential of completion.

Thanks, Hoss.

I wonder if he had that look on his face for all four years of the marriage.

Yup, you can see the edge of the now Oxy petroleum building on the left, funny, I grew up there and I'm having a hard time remembering the round building in the picture.
I do remember the Chevrolet dealer though

That's the California Market Center at 110 East 9th Street. The view is looking from Spring Street with Main joining on the left.

This color slide from 1961 isn't a mystery location but it's interesting nonetheless.

I recognize . . . .

I'm pretty sure the street is ARGYLE.

From Vintage Los Angeles on Facebook:

Perpetual Savings Bank - Westwood branch - located at Wilshire and Glendon. This mid century / space age structure was built in 1962, designed by Edward Durell Stone design. Demolished in '85.

What street is this?...
We're looking north on Ivar Avenue from the parking lot next to the Knickerbocker (the name is visible on the second sign). In the distance on the left are the Aldo Nido Apartments.

The big hole at Wilshire & Westwood was once Truman’s Drive-in & Restaurant with a prior history all the way back to the hi ho Drive in and the College Court Cafe.

So in the eBay slide we're looking at the back-side of the Mormon Temple.

Thanks for your help, Alkapone.
