Jones lives in Millidgeville and I was told Dempsey lives in Drury Cove (Ward 4 I think?)......not sure about Merrithew (Millidgeville?). If Jones runs at large that would leave Merrithew as the Ward 2 candidate of the group.

I think Dempsey overperformed if anything in Portland-Simonds given John Dornan's high profile combined with Blaine Higgs' unpopularity. I had a conversation with Dempsey during the election and he struck me as a very credible and serious person. He certainly has the most impressive CV of the bunch......almost to the point of me wondering if he's not over qualified for SJ common council.
Thanks for the clarity.

I heard a couple of people bring up the Cullen candidacy and indeed he seems to be running in Ward 1. Without knowing the guy or his platform, I assume he's a huge upgrade from Killen.

Drury Cove is in Ward 4, true. It really should be in Ward 2 despite being barely contiguous to it. With population growth in the city concentrated in Millidgeville, the far east side, and somewhat uptown/south, we probably need to rejigger ward boundaries (as does Moncton) but I don't know if there's a mechanism for that.

Re: Dempsey's 2024 performance, he did about as well %-wise vs the city at large compared to 2020 numbers as the other candidates. The caveat is he was running against a star Liberal candidate, where TikTok-what's-her-name in Lancaster did basically as well as Dempsey did against a more generic Liberal. Maybe that means Lancaster has a higher PC floor than Portland-Simonds, or maybe it means Dempsey held up better vs Dornan than expected. Most likely both.
