Read the thread. There are no elevations in the diagrams. None of the towers are to scale.

I really wonder if NYC will ever top Central Park Tower or 1WTC.
I honestly don't think so just in the near future at least. I don't really think there are many sites in NYC that are appropriate for developments even taller than what was already been built. Not against that changing though, just doesn't look like anyone was plans otherwise

There's likely going to be a very generous loan though, since they received the federal approval. There will probably be more design alterations, but all of this talk of financial constraints will only really be determined once the thing actually gets financed, which is likely going to be a very generous amount.

Yeah I mean I think the whole point of the twin towers design was value engineering

They were just tube steel frame monoliths that were stacked really high. I'm by no means attacking the design, but they were definitely the opposite of extravagant

It’s the usual group of sad, depressed, and disgruntled people who complain. But it’s just what they do, it’s who they are. You never see them contribute anything to the discourse, they just parachute in to — or whine about something. There are multiple NY threads, and this is proven. Let them be unhappy, it is their only joy.

Truthfully, with the way things are going skyscraperwise, many people in many differentplaces would be excited for a skyscraper of half this size and quality. Not only is the city booming, but it’s booming in every direction. To finally see this tower rise is the one I’ve been waiting on the most. It will be spectacular! And the sad and depressed will remain sad and depressed, already moved on to the next thing to — about.

They haven’t announced anything yet. You can probably book into the next year.

Not an elevation diagram.

Hotels are free to cancel reservations, so I wouldn’t look too much into this. I doubt anyone has an exact date of closure at this early stage, but excited to see June roll around

The Spire of 1V is 100 feet tall, there's another spire length between 1V tip and the crown of this so around 1,500.

Of course some people are saying this is not to scale or not factoring in angles so we shall see.

I just hope it's not the same height as all the other buildings (~1,400).

As far as the VEing it's not as bling bling as the original renderings but still looks amazing I think!

Sadly, looks value engineered.

The podium looks very awkward compared to the tower. It doesn't... match or flow into the tower. Almost as jarring as the tall parking podiums seen in Texas/Florida, is the best comparison I can give. Though, thankfully, it's a short human scaled podium.

Also, the large vertical tubes are almost entirely smooth, except for the lower corners near the podium? That also looks awkward?

Overall, the tower is a boost to NYC's architectural prowess, but it certainly looks less coherent than the previous iteration.

I'm not freaking out about it though. I have confidence this tower will blow even the less unenthusiastic skyscraper fan out of the water, even after all these changes.

It’s utterly surreal to hear complaints about a 1,500’+ iconic tower. No other U.S. cities are even building office towers, let alone icons.

The tower still looks beautiful - any downgrades that I can see are minor. It is certainly not a downgrade compared to 3 World Trade Center, which had its fins removed and bracing curtailed considerably. I also recall that even the New York by Gehry at Eight Spruce Street original plans were to have wavy curves on ALL sides and they ended up just putting the waviness on one side.

I just hope they don't make any substantial downgrades, like making the top straight rather than curved or worse yet, removing the vertical bracing entirely or on one or two of the sides.

But the longer we have to wait, the more risk of changes to save escalating costs...

Oh so you get to outright insult people in this thread and call us out for mere opinions on the subject matter of the thread, but we can't even say simply say you're overreacting.

NO one insulted you, but if you are insulted by those statements, they must have applied. Also, no one said you can't have an opinion. But do not be insulted when you are called out on your behavior. That is all.

Really? You think the value engineering alterations and height cut are good do you?

Everybody should be happy ..most people didn't even think that this project would get city approval, financing let alone begin construction/demo. NYC is receiving an iconic supertall that most other places in the world can only dream of having.
