...Ah, yes, right you are. Memory gets foggy as I age.

I broke my own rule that I try to verify something I post online before I post it.

^ its a fun fact that it was actually designed by Peter Sampson now of Public City fame....in his brief stint at Prairie.

It's still one of my favourite multi-family building in the city.

It looks like this project was approved but with a couple major conditions. First, the required Lot Area Per Dwelling was increased from 125 sq ft to 200 sq ft (which I believe will mean fewer residential units) as well as increasing the number of required parking stalls from 21 to 43. Not sure how this will effect the project going forward.

Wait it's 25 units and they're requiring FORTY THREE fucking parking stalls? 1.72/unit?!

Look forward to the project being value engineered to replace the Tyndall with Hardie board so they can afford to focus on the priority of ensuring as much space as possible is taken up by parking

how in the hell are they supposed to add 23 more parking stalls?!

I will never understand why we care about density calculations. If it fits within the box, why does it matter how many homes there are?

Like at the end of the day, if they can rent these units out without parking spaces, who gives a shit

If every building "needs" a certain amount of parking in order to rent units, developers will build parking.

My 100+ year old apartment building in the Village has around 25 units and... maybe 10 parking stalls? The whole point of living in the Village is that everything, groceries, coffee shops, bars, and transit, is all right there, not to mention the plentiful Peg City Car Coop cars in the area. These parking spot requirements for new builds are ridiculous.

Exactly, let the market decide.

People tout that Winnipeg is a car city, as if it's a given, and that any sort of investment in public transit, active transit, etc is forcing something on the population. In reality, it's a bunch of small things like parking minimums that artificially put a thumb on the scale for cars.

If parking wasn't as easy, cheap, and freely available, there would be more demand for better public transit and there would be enough political will to get more than one BRT line completed in the 50 years since they first proposed it.

My Osborne Village building has 10 units and 6 parking spaces. When I moved in, I told management I didn't want the parking space that was supposed to come with the apartment. They were shocked. They said the other residents would be in a frenzy for it.

This city man. It's been 2 years of living in my current spot, biking and walking everywhere saving loads of $$ and keeping healthy.

Osborne at Roslyn intersection now has a leading pedestrian signal. Probably resulting from a pedestrian being killed there recently.

Also, I noticed construction fencing up at 670 McMillan Ave. Expecting to see that project start soon.

wild idea here but maybe the city could implement these at intersections *before* someone dies instead of just after
