I had hoped to catch the next segment raised into position but alas, no. Cable stays installed on the bridge segment from Lexus’s last pic, two pairs on each side now left.

My pics.

I appreciate her pictures, but my God, I wish she would realize you can turn your phone sideways and take landscape pictures in landscape profiles…

I find it hard to believe that the bridge will be open to traffic in three months and 16 days.
Get ready once again for BC's famous half-assed infrastructure award.

When the Pattullo Bridge replacement is expected to open
... before Christmas 2025.
https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/pattullo-bridge-replacement-expected-open

Posted Sept 11th:

Here’s a look at progress on the “end span” – the concrete deck is being installed to connect the bridge deck from
@CityofSurrey to the bridge tower.
Crews are preparing to install the remaining deck panels to continue forming this area of the bridge deck!

Not sure if this is news, Daily Hive is quoting MOTT that it will be open to traffic by Christmas. That's pretty much been the plan since the delayed schedule was announced last year, to be open by the end of Fall 2025.

Recalling that article, I don't think it explicitly said Christmas 2025, did it?

“It’ll be open before Christmas,” [Farnworth] said.

As the minister and Premier David Eby walked away from the media scrum, a joking aside from Eby to Farnworth was caught on a hot mic.

“Glad you didn’t say which year,” Eby said.

I wish there was a polymarket to make bets on whether the bridge opens in 2025 or not. Their timeline has 0 credibility. Just a few months ago they said they will finish connecting the bridge in summer....now its moved to October. January 2026 is my bet for when the bridge opens.

My bad, should have cross referenced that from a reliable source!

Zero electrical work or drainage work has been done. Another 4-6 weeks to join the bridge deck and you anticipate more delays due to weather.

They might do something stupid where they are sloppy as fuck and open it up to NB only traffic while they continue to do periodic lane closures to redo a ton of work and continue construction through 2026 and 2027.

2027? wow! and I thought I was a pessimist lol....usually this late into construction the timeline shouldnt be off by that much...maybe a few months. Why would northbound traffic be open before southbound?

They need to rip out part of the existing bridge approach to allow completion of the new approach and road tie in.

This has always been the plan and is fairly standard practice, not something "sloppy as fuck" as the troll above posted.

Troll? The government continues to aim for a 2025 opening which would require some weird road configuration along with multiple temporary fixtures along with a course roadway until they can repave it in the spring/summer. Truth is we are further behind schedule. I'm usually pro-union but this has been a complete gongshow and I hope we can proceed without unionized labour in future public-private partnership involved projects.

Here's a more grounded (reality?) view of progrees and work needed for completion.

What are you talking about? zero electrical work? street lights are installed and working on the South side approach. You can be negative all you like but try and get some facts right...

Was a able to view the Patullo construction from the old bridge last evening. Can confirm that there are some streetlights on the Surrey side of bridge and they were on. Also the gap has shrunk since the last videos I have seen. If you had a fast enough car, could probably jump it!
Only one more cable to go!

You seem to be a bit fixated on the labour aspect of this. Got any insights as to why you're point the finger at site labour rather than other aspects of the construction?

Acciona has been involved in a lot of larger scale infrastructure projects recently, and not all of them have been under the same labour regime.

logicbomb's comments are concerns I've heard before, but for other projects

Are they labour union challenges unique to this project, or related to the Province's CBA policy?
