Hamilton’s under renovations arena will be known as TD Coliseum. Formerly known as Copps Coliseum and most recently First Ontario Centre.

A couple of updates for Scotia Place Arena in Calgary.

You can get a decent look at how deep the pit is. The ice level will be sunken below grade so the pit is fairly deep by arena standards.

Scotiabank Arena in Toronto is "sunken" like that from what I remember. the concourse is half-way up the arena and is at ground level.

Great news for Hamilton to see an actual major sponsor for the arena. Keeping it as the "Coliseum" keeps it on brand and may actually shift people to saying "the Coliseum" instead of "Copps".

Street level is basically where the exits are at the top of the gold seats. You go down 2 or 3 steps in the exit onto the concourse, which is street level.

Calgary's new arena looks like it will be at least 30 feet deep, maybe 40 feet.

Still no word on a new corporate name for Hamilton's Stadium? I wondering if they are holding out for too much money?

I was actually thinking Tim Horton's didn't renew on the stadium because they were going to sponsor the arena. Would have thought if there was a name coming for the stadium, they would have done it in time for the CFL season. Wonder what these deals for this level of facility are worth now.

CFL Tiger-Cats Announce 10-Year Naming-Rights Deal With Tim Hortons
sportsbusinessjournal.com July 14 2013

The CFL Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Ontario-based QSR Tim Hortons "formally unveiled their deal" to name the city's new C$146M stadium Tim Hortons Field at "an extravagant event Friday," according to Meredith Macleod of the Hamilton SPECTATOR. The 10-year naming rights deal will bring C$750,000 "in revenue to the city annually."

I thought the rumour mill had Porter Airlines taking over the rights, but that was a while ago so it may have been just rumour. But then again a rumour had Larry Thompson taking over the Esks and that was right.

Looks like we're getting an AHL team.

OVG says pro hockey will be returning to Hamilton
Based on Pistore’s timeline, we should be finding out which is our new team sometime in September or early October.

That's great news. From the perspective of a Hamilton resident without any particular knowledge about venue management, OVG seems to be fulfilling its obligations to the City through the renovation program and delivering on promises that the venue would be extensively programmed. In other words, so far so good. For a City that seems to stumble in a lot of its initiatives, with this project they seem to have chosen a good operator and the renovation program is proceeding well.

I think most new arenas are this way now.

Not sure if the purpose of that reply was to refute my guess that the naming would be done by the time the season started, or what (as I can't really see any other reason for it). But keep in mind the stadium didn't actually start hosting games for more than a year after the original naming rights deal was announced, so yes, despite it being in July, it was prior to the Tiger-cats playing there.

There are some Marlies season ticket holders posting on various Facebook groups that they have been told the Marlies are moving to Hamilton. I still don't buy it. No reason for MLSE to move their team down the highway, away from their combined training centre in Etobicoke and out of the arena MLSE manages. Hamilton never supported their prior AHL team any better than the support the Marlies get at the Ex.

Of course, the NHL is expanding, which means the AHL will be too, so who knows.

When Quebec City gets their NHL team finally they can put their AHL team in Hamilton. Win/Win....

Seems pretty clear he was responding to this:
