The accurate version of what happened is unsettling enough, you don't need to make things up.
You think arresting a Judge for doing her job, is normal in a democracy? I got news for you: the FBI can invent a reason to arrest someone, if they are in the Presidents cross-hairs. This has happened throughout history in autocratic nations. And it will happen here too under a Poilievre led Government.

Sometimes, I honestly believe that half of all Conservative voters hate democracy.

A vote for Poilievre is a vote for fascism.
A vote for Carney is a vote for Democracy.

Choose wisely, my fellow Canadians.
Wow… talk about classic Trumpism spreading complete disinformation.

Believe it or not, you are more like a classic Trumpet than the Conservatives

Judging by your posting history, you would openly welcome the US Army if they ever crossed the 49th parallel.

The not withstanding clause is a legal mechanism that parliament is allowed to use under very limited conditions and on a temporary basis.

While I am also disappointed to see that PP has indicated he wants to use that tool so far he has not proposed to step outside the rule of law.

It is a tool that should not be there. But it is. Lets hope its use is extremely limited.

Arresting homeless people and throwing them in jail is cruel and unusual. It should also be noted that the majority of homeless people in Western Canada are Indigenous. It also should be noted that the vast majority have physical or mental impediments, that in many cases prevents them from obtaining steady employment.

Finally, it costs the Government far more to process an individual in the correctional system for one day that it does to let a homeless individual pitch a ten along the riverbank in a Canadian city for a month. I'm sure Canadians will love their tax money being used this way.

That’s your judgement?! Based on my posting history?!

Another misinformed Trumpeter post….

Point to any one of my posts that makes you come to that conclusion. C’mon, show me.

Wow, where do you live, in the Pleasant Valley garden suburbs? Homelessness, mental illness, and drug addiction are bigger problems than ever, it doesn't seem to matter what party is in power, no one has come up with the answers. So many people are afraid to walk down the street here in Vancouver. The other day I was assaulted (but not injured) by a mentally deranged white person in a good part of the city, but you know, I have to feel sorry for him and see him as the victim because I'm so privileged. But I voted Liberal anyway, because of all the untenable things attached to the Conservatives, and have to hope for the best.

I am not voting for PP for a variety of reasons, including this one.

He is cruel, misguided and playing to fears people have. Sad that he is getting the traction he is.

That said, Trump is taking this to a level that is so far away from ethical standards that I don't think even PP will reach. I also think we have more constrains on our political leader.

When Daniel Smith indicated she wanted to interfere in prosecutions and do pardons, the way they do in the US, she quickly learned once in power that in Canada it does not work that way.

It is a problem. It has been a problem that federal and provincial governments of all stripes have tried to and failed to fix. The DTES has been there for a over 40 years.

I think letting the medical and social services people lead the attempt to fix it makes more sense than the police.

The Liberals have a better strategy.

Seat projection from polling company YouGov:

https://yougov.co.uk/politics/articles/5...ion-liberals-likely-to-win-majority-poll

I don't know this company very well but it appears to be British by its website address.

LPC: 185

CPC: 135

BQ: 18

NDP: 3

GPC: 2

Canada 338 has:

LPC: 186

CPC: 124

BQ: 24

NDP: 8

GPC: 1

Carney is hitting Edmonton and Calgary on Sunday. My prediction is 6 seats for the Liberals. If we are lucky, 2 more from Edmonton can flip, for a total of 8. That is unheard of in Alberta.

Considering at least 2 seats, and possibly 3 will go to the NDP in Manitoba alone, I would stick with 338Canada.com.

The DTES has been run politically by the NDP for decades, supposedly the most ideologically progressive political party in Canada. Things have only gotten worse of course, which means that more drastic measures are required if you want anything to improve. However you choose to implement it, this is what we should be discussing. Interestingly, I've been told by immigrants I've chatted with, that in their countries of origin, there are not these same kinds of problems, because homeless people there simply cannot afford these kinds of drugs.

The difference between the left and the right (still useful terms, even if they carry a more cultural than economic sense these days) is that the left either truly believes, or tactically wants their base to believe, that conservatives can all be tarred with the same brush, such that many would believe that a tasteless meme like this accurately reflects the general temperament of the there-be-dragons knuckle-draggers supporting Poilievre.

But these days conservatives know the left/liberals and their positions better than the opposite, owing to the institutional capture of the Great Awokening over the last decade. They've been forced to kowtow to arrogant power structures that never deign to investigate, much less dialogue with, contrary positions. And so you have a spectacle like this, on SSP, where the image above gets passed off as typically conservative. Meanwhile, the painfully idiotic sentiments below aren't restricted to raving lefty loons calling to dismantle capitalism so that trans people can rescue Palestine, but rather, are the stock in trade for ABC people with degrees and mortgages and teenaged children who otherwise can be very nice.

I've literally heard varying versions of the below from family members I care deeply about who either vote NDP or, as it looks like this time, strategically Liberal:

On another tack, it's amusing seeing the potshots at the part of Poilievre's platform about wokeness. Dismantling it is going to be somewhat like the People's Front of Judea taking on the apparatus of the state of Rome, so no, strictly speaking it's not the most pressing concern at the moment. But this idea that it's, what, a phantom of the hyper-active conservative imagination? That's positively bonkers.

Because, have a look at this. The legitimate requirements for the job are in red. The rest is woke.

https://x.com/jonkay/status/1913037513892962750/photo/1

If you...don't see any problem here, you might be a woke lefty-liberal with blinders on, or otherwise so loathe to admit that conservatives might be right about something that you feel compelled to stick your fingers in your ears and chant "la-la-la nothing to see here."

There are many such examples.

I predicted that the NDP would win 7 seats with 2 of them being in Manitoba.

I looked at each current NDP riding, how well the candidate did before but the main factor was how well the NDP candidate is liked by constituents based on his/her name over party. I've seen some predictions that no NDP candidate will win East of Manitoba. A definite possibility but my guess is one in Ontario and one in Quebec. I'm curious to see if any NDP candidate gets 40% or more of the votes in any riding.

My prediction:

LPC: 197

CPC: 125

BQ: 13

NDP: 7

GPC: 1

-----------------

NL: 7 LPC

PE: 4 LPC

NS: 8 LPC, 3 CPC

NB: 7 LPC, 3 CPC

QC: 54 LPC, 13 BQ, 10 CPC, 1 NDP

ON: 84 LPC, 36 CPC, 1 NDP, 1 GPC

MB: 6 LPC, 6 CPC, 2 NDP

SK: 13 CPC, 1 LPC

AB: 31 CPC, 5 LPC, 1 NDP

BC: 23 CPC, 18 LPC, 2 NDP

YT: 1 LPC

NT: 1 LPC

NU: 1 LPC
