That's an interesting report... I think that bodes well for Canadian democracy.

I'm not from Toronto... but I'll forever associate "The Danforth" with Rob Ford... I thought it was some swanky hotel or something the first time I heard him reference it.

I finally made it to the Danforth one year... I went to "Murphy's Law Bar" but they were out of Murphy's Irish Stout!!!

Same thing here in Winnipeg South Centre. I went to the advance poll this morning and was told it would be over an hour wait. Usually I’m in and out in under five minutes (cough…that’s what she said…cough).

If I were Carney, I would also look into passing a bill limiting foreign ownership of Canadian media (I.e. Postmedia). What a clown show Rebel News is.

I would also like to see the Federal government pass legislation to increase the Canadian content we get in all forms of media. We need to start telling our own stories again. We have the talent here that can do it. Most American TV content is fluff anyway.

LOL. Even on a busy election, the longest advanced polling has ever taken me is about 10 minutes.

I'm so happy that it's looking like PP will never be in power. I wonder who the Conservatives will choose next when he gets kicked out of his job this summer. Hopefully, for them, they actually choose a likeable candidate next time, do they even exist in that party?

Erin O'toole, but for the Jenni Byrne gun nuts. Without reforming how the elect party leaders, there's no hope for a nationally-palateable Conservative party.

On another board, I'm hearing some people say they're seeing long lines at their local advance polls, mainly because the advance polls have fewer stations then demand warrants; either Elections Canada underestimated turnout, or they're having trouble getting volunteers to man them over the holiday weekend.

I haven't gone by my local advance poll yet so I don't know how things are here.

I also wonder how many advance polls are at churches like my local one is. This is one of the biggest church weekends of the year, so the sites will be a lot busier than normal on Sunday I'm sure. And I wonder how many people figure they'll go vote after services too.

I gotcha beat. I went to the advance poll here in Moncton Northwest and waited 3 hours to vote.

I wouldn't have waited except my middle son came with me to vote as well, and, the line-up was out the door. It was only when we got inside the polling place that we saw how long the line-up really was, and, by that time, we had invested enough time that we just opted to stay.

This is probably the most consequential election of our times. I think final voter turnout will be huge. I hope this serves as some form of repudiation to Herr Adolf Drumpf.

It doesn't matter the leftist playbook is to compare whoever it is to either Trump or the fella with the Chaplin-like stache. I wonder if Caroline Mulroney has had electrolysis?

The Independent (formerly a separatist paper here, now it's more... focused on Indigenous issues, creeping over-enforcement of things like laws around protests, promoting safe injection sites, etc. Mostly things I support) does get weird sometimes.

They held a debate, and the NDP was the only major party to show (typically the dominant party here since Harper caused PC Newfoundlanders to reject CON, Jack Harris used to win it for the NDP with, like, 75% of the vote). But the framing of it in their coverage is what a wonderful thing it was to have no conservative voices/talking points, to get to JUST talk about the issues

Very curious to see the results here. Dave is reasonable, VERY popular with rural areas of the district (especially Bell Island, Portugal Cove-St. Philip's, Bauline, etc.). Joanne isn't exactly popular, she rode in on the red wave last time around. Kind of the same vibes as a parachute candidate, maybe? People just don't know her, or see her. Mary is a strong candidate, I believe she's even the national leader of whatever, but she's lost before. I think enough voters are like me, ABC, that Mary might finish third, where the Cons have typically been in recent years.

I tried to vote as well. 1 hour wait. I'll go another day.

Most times I've voted either Provincially or Federally the wait is 5-15 minutes max.

I don't know if they don't have enough advance polls, or turnout is going to be higher than anticipated or both.

My incumbent (who I said I like) is Peter Julian, who is the NDP House Leader. He has lived in New Westminster his entire life and has been MP here since 2004, when Jack Layton was first NDP leader. If he wins his seat this election I would not be surprised to see him make a run at the NDP leadership should Jagmeet Singh step down after this election - which would also not surprise me.

He did run in 2017 for the leadership but ended up withdrawing and then endorsing Singh.

Another possible Singh successor could be Charlie Angus.

The longer Cons react defensively to valid and useful criticism, the longer they will go without winning a federal election.

I still think Pierre won the debate last night and could see some gains and at a minimum solidify his base. Carney was decent but not anything particularly noteworthy which I guess is fine. With his lead all he had to do is come out of the debates unscathed and he has managed that.

The good news for Carney, however, is that Singh was so annoying and disrespectful that he has only hurt his cause. It's yet another reason, amongst a plethora of them, not to vote for him. Those disenfranchised NDP voters will do what the rest of them have already done and shift over to the Liberals.
