As I and others said earlier — PP did great vs JT, defeated him so thoroughly that he ended up with a new opponent. In fact one could argue that PP would’ve benefitted from not being as good as he was at taking down JT.
Erin OToole got the most votes the last election and captured 34% of the popular vote (still can't figure out why the CPC turfed him). Pierre may not grow that # by much and this is after 2+ years of campaigning, fundraising, 3 word slogans, etc. If the guy was likeable and hadn't been on the narrative of Canada is broken and we're stupid - the Conservatives would have won a landslide - even against Carney.

How many Conservatives are lobbyists for the grocery stores? Another interesting coincidence - I think not. Hypocrites.

There were nine of us and I can still remember the name of the investment guy who used to come by the house to talk to Mom and Dad.

At work I used to have guys bitch at me about them having to pay tax and I would tell then to buy an RSP and they would say they couldn't afford it (with a smoke in one hand and a Tims in the other).

Here are some of the more needless money wasters: Smokes, booze, recreational drugs, coffee, gambling, fast food, and for a lucky few of us cars and smartphones.

I think it would scare people to know how much they spent on coffee or smokes or fast food in a year. Think that a family pack of hamburger might make 12 burgers, how much would 12 burgers at Rotten Ron's cost?

People's situations differ, I understand, but it can be done. I had a line I used to use on the guys that I learned watching some guys play cards. When he lost a hand one guy would say "Oh well, no milk for Kendra" (his child) I would say that to the guys who were smoking with the Tim's, No milk for (their child). Everyone took it as the joke it was but some brain light bulbs flickered a little bit.

It's laughable. Canadas progressive taxation system and social safety net under Harper was more robust than what Bernie Sanders is fighting to acheive in the states.
Absolute rubbish, except for the part about comparing Polinever to Dump. Insufferable as Polyester is to many Canadians, Dump is many orders of magnitude more repugnant a specimen of humanity at its worst.
If Sanders were a Canadian politician - and how I wish he had been (he's too old now) - he would unquestionably be running for the NDP, not the PPC, as you suggest. The man has been a dedicated progressive for six decades. Even Singh is not a self-professed democratic socialist, nor were Mulcair, Layton, or McDonough.
Biden and Harris would in all likelihood be Liberals if they were Canadian, or perhaps Red Tories. It is not fruitful to compare political realities in the U.S. to those in Canada when assessing how liberal or conservative American or Canadian pols are. You work with what you have, not with what you wish you had.

Kudos to him for doing that. But there's no way the average $60k renter in Vancouver can live like that. And designing policy around the outlier is a lot like saying we should design the health system around athletes.

But also, I'm struck by the choice that we'd give him a tax break while potentially cutting things like childcare. In a country with a catastrophic birthrate.

Sanders has endorsed Jagmeet Singh's NDP twice. In his early years in politics he spoke for the need of something like a labor-based party in the US.

Ed Broadbent may perhaps have been the last NDP leader to identify as a democratic socialist (he says in his memoir that democratic socialist and social democrat are interchangeable), but he used that language less than Tommy Douglas and David Lewis did.

Is this true or misinformation?

Benjamin Perrin, former legal advisor to Prime Minister Stephen Harper, endorses Mark Carney and the Liberal Party:

Poilievre is picking up the PPC vote from last time. But concern about a Conservative government is also driving NDP, Bloc and Green voters to the Liberals.

We're going to see the lowest level of support for third parties in a long time. Since 2004 typically around 70% of the electorate votes Liberal or Conservative, this time the combined Liberal + Conservative vote may be around 80%.

Oh there was someone who thought Bernie Sanders would run for the PPC if he were in Canada. Yep all perfectly normal and nothing to be shocked and flabbergasted by. Carry on.

For the "Associate members" of the 38, only 8 are foreign subsidiaries.

So out of 70 members it seems like 18 are foreign subs. Maybe math is different on the island.
You will notice I did not do the calculation, I cited my source for that information.

A company having its head office in Canada does not mean its majority Canadian owned. You will need to look at who the shareholders are.

Thx for the grammer lesson - is this the same narrative that you use to say that Jones, Musk, Peterson, Shapiro, Trump, etc. don't really support Pierre (wink, wink, wink).
I worked at a federal agency between 2008 and 2014 and the Harper government absolutely laid off people in permanent positions where I worked. Fortunately for me it was mainly management positions. There were also reductions by attrition at the level I was at.

I was on a board for a research organisation that was directly funded by one of the departments during that time. Generally process (at least from my perspective being outside of government) but with some visibility. I was out of that in 2012. I don't claim this was universal.

Each department was ask for three budgets, 0% increase, -5% and -10%. They would them pick one of the three. You do that every year and you make good progress in reducing head count over time.

The underlying principle was management would pick places to cut that have the lowest impact. The first year you do something like that there is always some activities that provide little value and is easy to cut. After a few years you start to have a real impact.

I'm still saving only 20k a year even though my income nearly tripled. Between inflation, mortgages, music festivals and drugs, I keep finding new ways to blow through the extra money living the gay DINK life, though donations/tithes now make up a good chunk of it

Ugh, I hate to even hint at defending the idiot, but I don't think he's officially (or even semiofficially) said anything about the 51st state since Carney talked to him.

The Press Idiot, DC Judy, was just answering a question, and she obviously just parrots whatever the idiot's last stance was on a given thing. Since he hasn't said anything about backtracking on the 51st state rhetoric, she has to keep saying whatever the last stance was.

Trump and Pierre's allies - aka Jones, Modi, Musk, O'Leary, Peterson, Putin, Rogan, Shapiro, Vance, etc. have told him to be quiet because his buddy Pierre won't win if he keeps at it...
