Is me saying Carney will win right wing? Are my CBC and Mansbridge videos right wing?

Exactly what points are nonsense? How do you know what is nonsense if you won't watch the video? The video I posted with Danielle Smith was very measured, far more than I expected, that's why I posted it.

Don't play dumb about this. I'm not watching the video, or wasting my time with you if you're just trolling.

Apologies if you aren't playing dumb.

It's nice of Poilievre to say he'll strip Charter rights from people before the election instead of surprising people with it afterwards. Mind you, he won't get in anyhow, but still, it's nice to see his lack of concern for Charter rights.

I'm sorry but I don't play these stupid games, I don't need to add silly emoticons to the end of my posts to try and humiliate people. I'm looking for answers but please don't criticize videos that you refuse to watch. If you don't want to watch them fine, but don't pretend to know their content and comment without watching.

I'm really interested in what's going on with this Mainstreet poll. The other tracking polls yesterday and today didn't find a hint of this sudden surge for the Conservatives. There were also new polls from Pallas and Pollara today, conducted over the same timeframe as the Mainstreet polls, which show the same or higher Liberal support compared to their previous polls. (In fairness I think Pollara is a new entrant without much track record, but still.)

As well, there doesn't seem to be any reason for such a rapid and large swing. Mainstreet had the Liberals up by six points just five days ago. Nothing in either the Liberal or Conservative campaigns, nor any outside developments, would seem to be capable of inspiring dramatic shifts in either direction, for either party.

I'm entirely open to the possibility that this indicates something the other pollsters haven't picked up, but it also seems very possible that this is just an anomaly, or a bad sample. If polls are accurate 19 times out of 20, maybe this is the one time. (Though it is two days in a row, I suppose.)

I believe I can post whatever the hell I want on here. If you want to talk about videos, feel free to do so in the Youtube comments section. This isn't a video discussion forum.

I don't understand what you're asking and I don't understand why people keep posting reasons for not watching the video. If you don't want to watch it don't watch it, it's simple. If you want to learn more about her wouldn't it make sense to watch the video? What am I missing here?

I agree but the world full of so many countless people with opinions that we can't listen to them all. It's similar to a company looking for a new employee that needs some way to narrow down the applicants because it isn't practical to interview 500 people. So being open to differing views isn't an argument for why people should hear out any particular view. That's why people want a compelling reason why should consider a particular piece of media relevant.

I get the fear that if you provide a summary of the content and argument that some people may simply engage with that rather than engaging with the complete argument being presented. But if you ask before hand that they view the video before responding then that will help. And regardless, that's still better than people just scrolling by and not even seeing any of it.

Don't ask people not to debate a topic. Just stop making debatable assertions. Problem solved.

It's almost the same thing that Acajack did, where he just dropped a statement and then didn't follow it up with anything for a couple of posts, which drove people nuts. Maybe you could post some kind of synopsis of the video and what you took from it? Give us some actual reason to watch the video and maybe engage in discussion about it? Just dropping a video does nothing for anybody.

You make a good point but anything I post has my own bias and filter so if I only pointed out something in a video that I approve of, as you said people will be missing the context, or I might even be lying or trying to manipulate what has been said. Always better to hear from the horse's mouth.

Isn't that all you need to know?

Yes WEF wants a greener more sustainable world. The crazy conspiracy is that is going to enforce some world government which is also contradictory if we need to choose our PM based on resisting that. (If we have no control why does it mater?)

Yes Carney supports the carbon neutral agenda. He's pretty upfront about that.

Yeah, I'm puzzled by this odd poll, and a bit concerned about it (mainly due to how messy polling was in the States). It makes me worried the other polling companies are chasing an illusion for some reason and the Hopium levels have gotten too high.

Maybe/hopefully this is just a proper outlier and it will snap back in their next polling cycle, or something else will happen.

On a different note (And the "YOU"'s I'm about to say are NOT directed to Drybrain; just a Generic "YOU"; I just don't want to double post), I generally ignore video links, unless someone at least provides a proper TL;DW summary saying WHY I should watch it.

I've probably been too trained by the policies on a different set of boards I'm on; but generally speaking, on a message board, we are talking (and often debating) with YOU, the posters on THIS board. The points we are discussing and debating are the ones YOU are making. A video link may be making points, but we aren't debating the video creator. So it is up to the video poster to outline what is in the video and how it helps their position, at least in enough detail to either encourage people to watch or to at least continue the discussion. If we wanted to discuss the video itself, Youtube has a perfectly passible (if downright toxic) comment section where many videos can be discussed, often with the video creator.

But that's just my point of view.

I see your point and I answered it in the post above.

I don't think we can treat things fairly if we have preconceived notions. Earlier I posted about the Danielle Smith interview. She has been on and off appeasing me or pissing me off in her statements. As I said in the PragerU video she was very thoughtful, in my opinion. Maybe if others had actually watched it instead of criticizing without watching it they might have seen the same thing I did, or maybe they wouldn't.

That's one reason why I like the Mansbridge videos, I don't know what I'm going to get, but usually I come out thinking it's fair.

The point of a discussion forum is to discuss our opinions and biases. Just dropping in a video link doesn't further that. You posted the video for a reason, let us know what that reason is!
