As I stated earlier, I just don't see a path forward for a Conservative government, even a minority one. The Liberals are going to basically sweep urban Canada with the exceptions of AB/SK. How do you recover from that?...you can't.

Remember, nearly all the gains for the Liberals have come at the expense of the NDP & BLOC and relatively little from the Tories. If Carney losses some of that support, the majority will go back to NDP/BLOC so the Tories will gain few actual seats because of it.

The debates will be key but at this point, I think the most the Tories can hope for is holding Carney to a minority gov't.

And you expect us to believe that you haven't made up your mind?

It can be tough to figure out, I'm having trouble deciding in my district, better vote strategically if you can.

All Carney needs to do is copy Doug Ford in the last 2 elections. Smile, take in the crap and then say whatever fluff you want and don't even answer them. Let the others start turning on themselves.

Also seems the latest MAGA-style thing the CPC is copying is the too big to rig thing. Already trying to plant the seeds that the election results will be fake. A co-worker went to the Pierre rally in Kitchener the other night, said he had to walk a mile to get to it. Said "I don't buy the polls, Trump was supposed to lose in 2016 too. With all those people showing up, if he doesn't win, something is going on". Same crap we heard down south in 2020.

As for PP going on Rogan, I might actually listen to that. I don't listen now but I did hear Rogan's comments about not coming to Canada for the UFC. I would love to hear PP defending Canada to him, if he can muster the fortitude. Not sure what PP would gain by going on there though. Add to the margin of victory in Alberta and Saskatchewan? Well, if that makes him feel better I guess.
It will be quite funny if the Maple MAGA try to claim the election was stolen using the same complaints as the MAGA cult in the US. Federal elections here are only run by Elections Canada and have the same rules throughout Canada. Paper ballots are still used and no tabulators. While mail-in ballots do exist, they are used by very few people and only for special circumstances. But I'm sure some of them will blame those things.

As for the polls, it amazes me how some Conservative supporters still think that PP will win this election. I'm seeing it a lot in our local social media. There are guys who laugh and ridicule anybody who even thinks that the Liberals have a chance of winning. Some of them are still telling everyone to vote Conservative because we need an MP on the side of government.

EXACTLY!! Well said. You only see PP as pissed off and subdued. It's not a pleasing way to be to most people but is to many people just like him.

And you expect us to believe that you haven't made up your mind?

This thread has a poll on it that I haven’t participated in.

Why is that?

Yes there’s lots of dumb things he does… all politicians do dumb things from time to time. But most of the stuff people on here accuse him of is hyper-trivial. Including the MAGA crap. I’ve criticized other conservatives on here though, Leslyn Lewis, for one. she’s an idiot. I was very critical of harper, but I was just a lurker here in those days, but I very much remember making fuck harper posts on Facebook years ago.

most of my stance comes from the ridiculous commentary of the liberal supporters on here refusing to acknowledge their own party’s failures and missteps. Refusing to acknowledge carneys questionable qualities, but more so trudeau’s. Many here defending him until the end. Just the other day here Some were jumping to share tidbits of India infiltrating the conservatives, while completely ignoring their own party’s compromised candidate, who the liberals refused to boot. So he could save “face”. Who they replaced with another candidate with Chinese government ties. But India…

My support for the conservatives came from a place of them being the first to fully acknowledge the housing crisis in this country, they were the ones showing lengthening food bank lines, while the liberals put out stacked stats saying they were solving the poverty crisis.

So yeah don’t assume I’ve made up my mind.

The last several months I’ve been dealing with some health issues with my lower back and muscle spasms, and seeing the process and the lack of access to quick care, is upsetting. A guy waiting for triage had a heart attack in the middle of the emergency room waiting area while I was laying down on the floor vomiting in pain. Seeing an elderly man shivering and crying waiting hours by himself, with no one checking up on him, we can do so much better.
Canadians deserve better.

You say Pierre is angry all the time, if I only watched the little clips of him I’d probably have the same opinion as you, but I don’t, I’ve actually watched and listened to what he says, he is not what the left have made him out to be, he is passionate, funny, and I think sincere. I like his wife, I think the way he treats her, and acknowledges her is telling of the person he is. I think he genuinely loves her. I don’t think he’s the evil man you all make him out to be.

If I say something positive about carney, could you find something positive to say about Pierre?

Perhaps you’ve changed more conservative over the years. Your viewpoints are categorically right wing though. Hating Harper doesn’t say much. I voted for him in his first term (I admittedly matured and moved past my upbringing which was very conservative).

As for concerns about healthcare, that’s provincial. If you want better outcomes you need more federal funding. CPC isn’t going to do that. Instead they’ll allow provinces to further privatize services. Smith is already dismantling AHS. As much as you hated him, JT made funding contingent on healthcare remaining public and not private. There’s no chance in hell the cons will have those same criteria.

The shock is going to be overwhelming. Especially with a possible multi decade record.

Carney could take a shot down Bloor street and still win at this point. Even a gaffe in the debate doesn't seem like it would save anything.

Seriously? It's 100 times easier to find things to complain about than it is to do things so well that no one can complain. Especially in the opposition where finding problems and making catchy slogans is your only real task and doing so is in your personal interest. The CPC is so good at it that they even find problems that don't exist. Like convincing everyone that the carbon tax harmed affordability when all but wealthiest 20% get more back than they pay. Perhaps that's why you were critical o Harper. It was there job to do things while the opposition watched and complained. And when they were in power they were in no way a model of accountability or transparency and instead played the deny/deflect game better than anyone.

Fact is, every government tries to defend its record and spin its actions in a positive light. And every official opposition is an expert at finding fault. That's just the system rather than a sign of merit.

It isn't a personal attack. I was pointing out a fact.

He's the guy that brought up Carney's wife's sister's acquaintance with Ghislaine Maxwell a dozen times on this thread. Where was your outrage?

You are one to talk, with your "leftist", "leftist zealots", "far left forumers", in every second post.

I grow very tired of you challenging the mods.

The liberals were supposed to be the ones who cared about people, so many of the things they did proved they didn’t, from the strip mall schools to the unchecked immigration, they didn’t care about the stress this would put on our healthcare system. Or our infrastructure. Manitoba added a few hundred thousand over the last 20 years, with basically no increase in hospital beds.

This concerns me more than trump. Especially with an aging population in Canada. It shows incompetence.

If you're judging the parties and candidates by their actual platforms and records rather than how effectively they complain in opposition then I think that's great. Your prior post just didn't give that impression.

You and MonctonRad will really hurt my feelings if you guys don’t vote in the poll

But like I told him, it is an anonymous poll

And I like to think we here at SSP were a little ahead of the curve with this one

Wow lmao. I think it’s safe to say they wouldn’t ask that question today
