As for complaining about antisemitism, this happens to all groups. Personally I have witnessed far more anti-Islam, and anti-Asian sentiment. The Jewish state is engaged in genocide, killing innocent people (women, children, journalists, first responders, etc),. Many of us are growing tired of the "antisemitic" whine, for pointing out the obvious.
Maybe Palestinians should have been more vocal about not killing innocent people before they decided to go and kill…. Innocent people. Instead of condemning the atrocities, They danced in the streets.

Now they play victim.

The fact that there is on their part so very little recognition of or discussion of responsibility for launching the Oct. 7 attacks, or demands for the release of the remaining (60?) hostages, says a lot.

Thankfully you are in the minority, when it comes to Albertans. Most of us in urban areas hate Smith, and are proud Canadians. As for the fringe group of Albertans who want to hold a gun up to Canada's head, and threaten us with Alberta Seperation, if we do not comply with a bunch of ridiculous demands from a unpopular Government, go for it.

Hold the referendum. I can use a laugh when 85% vote "NO."

PS...now that the Trump Tariffs have imploded stock market and oil prices, it's no longer profitable to extract oil now. I've already seen a couple of videos on the weekend, where oil and gas companies are going to be laying off thousands of workers. Smith and the UCP could not have picked a worse time to shakedown Ottawa.

It all gets worse.

He genuinely doesn't understand global trade.
There is a chance the House steps in to curtail his tariff powers. It's starting already and will take time to get enough elected officials against him but I can see it happening as impacts start to hit home.

We already have lost revenue because of the high taxes placed on cigarettes. Over half the tobacco sales in New Brunswick are illegal cigarettes. It’s 45% of sales in manitoba.

This money is going to organized crime instead of healthcare.

Why does this need to be explained to you?

The US Senate has already voted to curtail those tariff powers.

The House has started to show some hints, but I suspect the pain will have to get worst before the heat is enough for the GOP Congress critters to defy Dear Leader and take away his toys.

Even a token attempt to withdraw those powers would probably be enough to make him throw a tantrum and scream inwardly for a bit, and would likely cause the markets to bounce upwards a bit in Hopium before he just Vetoes it.

(Note how the markets today had a big bounce upwards that seemed to be fueled by a fake tweet hinting at a 90 day delay in tariffs... until the Tantrum in Charge said that was all fake)

There is a certain segment of the population, usually politically quartered within the Greens or NDP (and recently but maybe no longer within the Liberals), who are self-loathing anti-westerners. And because it is far easier to target Israel as a 'colonial state' rather than to hold up a mirror to themselves, they manage to turn a blind eye to the horrific actions of Middle Eastern theocracies, from the 7 October attacks to the stoning of homosexuals or oppression of women.

And so this group's anti-Israeli protesting, which may genuinely not have antisemitic intent, makes convenient cover for genuine anti-semites embedded within their movement. I get the sense that's mostly from recent immigrants from Muslim theocracies where such thinking is common.

So whilst some of the encampment folk may not have antisemitic views, they provide useful cover for those who do. As do the generally 'anticolonial' parties who are rapidly losing their places in Parliament at the moment. And, I'd add, much of the NDP's downfall can probably be traced to their changing focus away from workers rights and toward the 'woke' mindset that encompasses this view.

The replacement for Jagmeet Singh should be a Charlie Angus-type union man, not another foppish activist.

Carney targeted by Chinese WeChat ‘operation’ in Canada election: officials

Canadian officials monitoring the federal election for foreign interference said Monday they have detected a Chinese-backed operation targeting Liberal Leader Mark Carney on the social media platform WeChat.

The “information operation” was launched by Youli-Youmian, WeChat’s most popular news account, which has been linked to the Chinese Communist Party’s central political and legal affairs commission, officials from the Security and Intelligence Threats to Elections (SITE) task force said.

According to the assessment unveiled Monday, the operation was intended to influence Chinese-Canadian communities and “mould perceptions” about Carney through articles that were amplified and spread by other WeChat accounts “in a coordinated and inauthentic way.”

This money could be staying in your wallet instead of going to organized crime or healthcare, if you quit smoking.

Yeah, I know what you said. You enjoy it. So did I, but I kicked the habit (after more than 20+ years of smoking) when I got married, and I have never looked back.

There is little doubt that higher tobacco prices are a disincentive for young people to take up the habit, while being a good incentive for smokers to quit or at least, cut down their habit (does anyone smoke 3 packs a day like some did back in the old days?). Contraband cigarettes are a natural consequence, alas, but this would still happen if the retail price was cut by half.

With time it will happen. He only need a few GOP members to vote with the democrats. If the people who give them money turn on them they will turn on Trump.

That's how the Senate vote passed. Maine, Alaska and 2 Alabaman Senators voted with all the Dems to make the Senate resolution pass.

The House only has a 5 seat majority at the moment, and a GOP Rep has already proposed it (but the Speaker is keeping it squashed). So beyond overcoming the majority, they need enough GOP Reps to force the Speaker to bring it to the floor and get the token vote on it.

And they'll need a LOT more to make it Veto proof. But even a show motion that passes would trigger the Toddler in Chief as I mentioned before.

For fringe parties, I'm interested in seeing how the Christian Heritage does here this time. They used to be good for 2.5 to almost 4 points and they dropped to under 1 in 2021 (6th place) when the PPC had their high. Then in the by election, the CHP got over 4%, for 4th place and PPC had a bit over 3%. I'm seeing lots of CHP signs around the riding, and as I said, no PPC and barely any Green.
I haven’t heard of the Christian Heritage Party in a long time. I believe they had their strongest showing in the 1988 election (something like 5% of the national popular vote) and were still active during the 90s, I remember seeing their signs in London West during the 1997 campaign. Haven’t really seen them since 2000.

Overall trackers are the best way of looking at things.
This is where I find CTV struggles in the ever-expanding field of data journalism, they did this during the pandemic as well, focusing too much on day-to-day fluctuations in data without looking at moving averages or longer term trends. CBC and other Canadian outlets seem to not have this issue when it comes to data journalism.

Noticing more and more that if Pierre doesn't like the question - he just labels it as misinformation or fake... and then won't actually answer the question and just falls back on his 3 word slogans.

I read another article where they presented how the Conservatives and Liberals are handling the media - pretty stark contrast.

This also is not a good look:
