Interesting that nothing seems to affect the two Green seats. I know the Kitchener Centre MP is popular, but I would have thought the seat might be at risk.

Also note that Carney was chair of BAM, which is no longer Canadian. The ETF holds the still-Canadian parent company BN.

Projections assume a uniform shift. In the case of the Greens they might be able to hold onto their seats as progressives stick with them but some NDP shifts may be even bigger in trade sensitive areas.

"A grim picture for Poilievre" says Ontario PC advisor

https://www.thestar.com/doug-fords-inter...1f8b5cc-3dec-42f6-9d4d-c342d67bee9d.html

Quote:
Internal polling for Premier Doug Ford’s Progressive Conservatives suggests Mark Carney’s Liberals lead Pierre Poilievre’s federal Conservatives by double digits in Ontario, the Star has learned.

A new Campaign Research survey found Carney’s Liberals at 48 per cent while Poilievre’s Tories were at 33 per cent and Jagmeet Singh’s New Democrats at 11 per cent while the Greens with co-leaders Elizabeth May and Jonathan Pedneault were at four per cent.

That 15 percentage point lead for the Liberals over the Tories in Ontario is more than double the 6.6 percentage advantage that Carney’s party enjoys in the Signal, the Star’s polling aggregator, which has the Grits at 48.1 per cent and the CPC 41.5 per cent here.

Kory Teneycke, Ford’s campaign manager in the premier’s successful re-election on Feb. 27, provided the Star with the detailed internal polling, which is rarely made public.

In an Empire Club club panel Wednesday night in Toronto, Teneycke expressed grave concern at the direction of Poilievre’s federal campaign, which remains fixated on tax cuts while Carney is focused on the threat of U.S. President Donald Trump’s 25 per cent tariffs on Canadian goods.

“For the Conservatives ... in the campaign cockpit, every buzzer and alarm is going off and the plane is like going bzzzzz and it’s like, ‘pull up, pull up, pull up,’” he told the 200 attendees at the event.

“You’ve got to have a pivot that’s taking some of the momentum of that issue shift and direct it towards things that are yours. It’s not going to happen if you’re talking about the World Economic Forum or the Century Initiative or God knows whatever other thing that is ... of little or no relevance to voters.”

That was a reference to Poilievre’s preoccupation linking Carney, a former Bank of Canada and Bank of England governor, with “globalist” elites.

Teneycke warned that unless the Tories “get on it quick, they are going to get obliterated” on April 28.

You're not satisfied by their explanation that he is too unqualified? He probably doesn't even know how to drive a tractor.

Polling has generally been pretty useless for Kitchener Centre in recent years, so I wouldn't take too much stock in them. Mark Carney had a very well attended rally in the riding last night, though who can say if that reflects on Kitchener Centre or Waterloo/Wellington more broadly? I would be surprising if the new prime minister couldn't fill a room here.

Mike Morrice's base is probably better understood as a red tory base - Mike Schreiner and Aislinn Clancy are very similar at the provincial level. It's benefited him well as he's been able to draw voters from both the Liberals and Conservatives at a point in time where the local candidates for both have been pretty weak. It remains to be seen whether that base of support for him stands when he faces a stronger candidate. He certainly puts the work in, but who knows if that will be enough.

That hasn’t worked at all for the past 10 years, so why would it start to work now?

LPC MPs are literally self-selected to oppose what Quebec wants from the Feds. It’s not a surprise

Andrew Lawton (yeah, that misogynist, racist guy) is running again, this time for London West.

For the conservatives. A former host with Rebel News. A huge advocate for freedom of speech (no wonder, since he enjoys posting Islamophobic, homophobic, sexist, and racist remarks).

Is this really the best candidate PP and the conservatives could come up with? Jesus...

Your article doesn't show the actual tweets. From my memory they were jokes with the exception of being against gay marriage and gay priests they weren't political positions though sure making light of the Niqab probably suggests certain positions.

Back in 2018, Lawton claimed that his racist and misogynistic social media comments ranged from 2005 to 2013 and were due to “mental illness”. However, you can find many from after that date range too with a quick google image search. I do believe that people can change and grow, but 10+ years in a row of this attitude suggests that he is indeed this kind of person.

This man is running in my riding. I will not vote for him. IMO he doesn’t stand a chance running against a current Liberal cabinet member (Arielle Kayabaga) who has an infinitely more respectable track record, experience in public office, and list of achievements. I hate that modern right-wing politics is currently rewarding these kinds of people and this type of behaviour.

Former PMSH aide and Doug Ford campaign guy Kory Teneycke went off on the Conservative campaign strategy on an Empire Club panel last night. "You've got to get on the fucking ballot question or you are going to lose." Audio:

I just drove through Forest Hill, which was full of PC campaign signs. No other signs. A few other hoods I drove through also had a lot of PC signs (1/3 of the homes). I haven't seen any other signs from other parties except 1 or two NDP signs today.

I'm going to give my takeaway from this.

1- Obviously, the PC party hit the ground running faster and are the first party in Toronto to get the signs on supporters' lawns.

2- Ya the few areas I drove through had a fairly large amount of PC signs, but that might also mean only tiny pockets of Toronto still support the PC party, at least at this moment.

Only sign I see up are PC and PPC and most of those are on public land. Very few on Residential. Have noticed NDP at the few residences in areas they won before. If everything goes as predicted. should be 5 Lib and 2 NDP in AB the rest CPC. Numbers for the CPC will probably be down. Danny is not doing them any favours here.

They may have just exposed their true approval ratings in urban centres.

I thought Carney was rather impressive in his media opportunity today - he's starting to build the "vision thing" for Canada's future.

Dougie can have his moment(s) and more power to him, but he is not a natiional leader and would be hopelessly out of his depth.

He is out of his depth as Premier and got re-elected twice. He would be the backroom boys dream candidate. A blank slate on many issues.

We could certainly see party members looking to back a winner and by 2029 any Conservative leader would seem to have at least even odds to beat the Liberals after 14 years.
