It comes down to credibility.
If Canadians actually believe that JT, a man who had never ran anything in his life, was the only problem with the LPC government and was making all of these bad decisions on his own, so be it. I hope they're right and that Carney represents an actual change.
But until January 2025, the LPC kept telling us to not worry because they had this economic whiz
advising the Prime Minister. Now the story has become that the advisor was too busy working his
real job to give the Prime Minister any actual advice.
Even some of his campaign slogans harken back to the JT campaign of 2015 ("invest not spend"), a campaign that was full of broken promises and in some cases flat out lies about the direction the party wanted to take the country (see: non permanent residents). It doesn't help that he has the same brain trust as that campaign.
But maybe Carney will be different.
