Everyone expects the writ to drop on Sunday for an April 28 or May 5 election.

The liberals are riding high in the polls, so it’s probably in their best interest to call it.

The NDP have now said they would prop up the Liberals if they bring back parliament… does it have something to do with projecting to lose party status in the next election? Probably, but they’ll blame the tariffs and the need for voting in government handouts.

Have they? I missed it.

I don't think it will be Edmonton because, although Alberta Liberal support has soared, I wouldn't say that any of the seats are completely safe and he will want that. Picking Ottawa would manage to alienate the entire country and I don't think the Liberals {or the nation} want another Montreal PM or any part of Quebec for that matter.

For those reasons, I think Toronto will be his choice.

No, I was only trying to get you to name that gulf

But it is a fair point to mention that trans mountain was the first pipeline to tidewater built within Canada, and not involving the United States.

Yes, it was a good "low touch" method to drive clean energy transition.

However it has become a distraction from other things so we need to do something else.

It’s not about water.

When it is said that a Canadian pipeline is to tidewater, it means it has access to an ocean port for export to markets other than the United States. This is a common phrase. The pipeline you show carries canadian crude to american refineries. It does not access cargo ships that take Canadian crude to other export markets.

The reason a pipeline to tidewater is important is because we are forced to sell our oil to the American refineries at a discount because of our limited access to other markets. They have configured their refineries specifically for Canadian heavy crude and not oil from somewhere like Texas, because they can get it cheap. Having a pipeline to a port for export allows access to markets that will pay full price and also increases the price to the states because we are not forced to sell there as our only option.

Why?
Although the Ottawa riding that he actually lives in already has a Liberal incumbent, so that's not really an option for him.

The mic has been dropped.

As I've said previously, I drink some Kool Aid but not all of it and two, I hate it even worse when my own side uses BS tactics that help me look bad, but I just refuse to defend them.

Frankly if people were more reasonable I'd call those tactics out more vociferously. As it is now I pretty much ignore those who aren't mature enough to have a civil discussion. And if anyone is thinking of finding posts from me being uncivil, don't bother, I am very guilty.

I'm finally coming to the conclusion that we seem to be getting betrayed by all sides and now seemingly on a daily basis. As Stone Cold used to say DTA (Don't Trust Anybody)

I've been reading that he will likely run in an Edmonton seat that the CPC won last time but was somewhat close for the LPC candidate. There is hope of an LPC breakthrough in Edmonton of at least 5 seats if Carney keeps the momentum going. That's what I read and not a prediction from me.

Can Carney run in the NWT, considering he was born there? Seems like a relatively safe bet.

He can run anywhere. But I don't see him running in the NWT because he was only born there and didn't live there for very long. Edmonton is the logical choice because he grew up there. He likely wants to run somewhere where it will be somewhat of a challenge and he's not just taking an easy route in Toronto or Ottawa.

I see Edmonton as a place for a good chance of an LPC breakthrough as it's somewhere where Danielle Smith and even PP aren't particularly popular. Of course, that is dependent on a successful LPC election campaign.

Sounds like the Conservatives are very concerned about "travel costs" for the campaign. They have decided they don't want the national media on the plane or bus with the leader. Instead they will invite local media at each of the stops and the national media can call in.

Since it is normal for the media to pay their own way and contribute to the travel cost it is weird.

I am certain avoiding hard "independent" questions is not the reason. It is an interesting experiment. On one hand you end up controlling the message and on the other you probably end up less face time.

Sounds like the Liberals are having the media travel with them.

So when Trump says something crazy, there will be instant reaction coverage from Carney and slow drip out, buried in the news cycle reaction from Pollievre. Terrible strategy, but fine by me. Of course, because they are Conservatives and like to throw selfish and childish tantrums, they will blame unfair media coverage.

I remember when former Ontario PC leader Tim Hudak did the same thing and wouldn't allow the media on his bus. It didn't go over well. You kind of get the feeling that they want to hide the leader and avoid questions.

It's often "GDP is not the only important measurement" [proceeds to list things correlated at 0.9 with GDP]
