Carney seems like a hard working Canadian. Contrast that to Pierre.

Pierre asked Doug Ford for help today and was told categorically "NO".

Canada Proud (aka CPC) launched smear ads against Carney linking him to Epstein.

More and more clear that Trump and Polievre are working together - Pierre is very imune to foreign interference such as Trump, Putin, Modi... he's a Stephen Harper puppet.

It seems like there is now a real proliferation of these "provocateurs" and BS artists. Perfected by the right as a reaction to being shut out of the mainstream, .the left is now rapidly catching up. I'm fed up with both. I'll stick with Peter Mansbridge podcasts.

Canada joining the EU would be infinitely better than joining the US under Trump as a single state. I don't think Trump understands Canadian provinces have far more power and autonomy than US States do.

Based on what criteria? There are certainly criteria where US states have more power/autonomy than Canadian provinces. These would include:
- residual powers in the US go to the states; in Canada, go to the federal government
- states have much more autonomy around the administration of justice vs. provinces
- each state has their own national guard; there's nothing similar in Canada
- federal elections in the US are managed by each state

On the flip side, provinces have greater autonomy:
- regulate local commerce and mobility of labour. As an example, due to barriers such as taxation and markup policies, the BC Liquor Distribution Branch only lists 3 Ontario wines for sale in BC. One would never see the state of Washington limiting the sale of California wines in the state.
- highways: provinces can slap the TCH designation on their highways without having to meet any criteria. To have an Interstate highway, states have to meet the criteria set by FHWA. That creates a relatively consistent driving experience in the US vs. Canada.
- labour law falls under provincial jurisdiction vs. at the federal level in the US

It's a good topic for one's Masters or PhD dissertation!

Yup, sure... whatever. CPC and Pierre are compromised. MAGA maple movement endorsed by Jones, Musk, Peterson, Shapiro, Vance (Jivani best friend - how has that worked in our favour?!?!?) and Trump - Trump already endorsed Pierre and now he forgets who he is - yeah, ok.

The Cdn traitors Gretzky, OLeary, Smith, etc. need to go - we'd be better off without these sellouts.

If anything, the republicans would make Canada a territory, not a state. They would not want to upset the balance of power.

Anyways, reading Carney's website it seems like its been word for word lifted from Pierre Poilievre sans the climate change section - cut the bureaucracy, reduce red tape, national standards, "supercharge housing", defending arctic sovereignty, etc.
Exactly.

No matter if you vote for Carney or Poilievre, you are voting for Poilievre’s platform. Thank you Liberals!

We'd be ranked below Puerto Rico... no voting rights and good luck if something bad happens - we'd get paper towels thrown at us.

Mark Carney comes from a very middle-class background and seems largely self-made through education and work, though he's not really your Average Joe Canuck at this point today.

Pierre Poilievre's background and career path seems fairly similar, really.

Pierre has only made money off the taxpayer.
Their education and career path are not the same.

Again your hyper leftist zealotry can't be taken seriously. It's Trump-like in it's overreach

I mean, Gretzky, O'Leary, Smith, etc. "need to go"? Need to go where, exactly?

Sure, we can tell them that they're wrong and even full of it if we want to (hopefully backed up with facts and counter-arguments), but beyond that?

Carney's career is very predominantly public sector as well, both in Canada and in England. He's got forays in the private sector but they're relatively short compared to his public sector work.

He's also 15 years older than Poilievre so a lot more to get private sector gigs, even if short.

BTW, you're dead wrong if you think I am shilling for Poilievre.

I just think that people like you would be saying the exact same things about Carney if the colours were reversed.

The phrase "need to go" generally means "out of the public eye". For politicians, it means "out of politics". For people like O'Leary, it means "off the TV and out of the media". It's not meant as "they need to physically go somewhere". Glad I could help teach you a basic English idiom.

Yes anybody that thinks Canada as a whole, nevermind individual provinces, would get treated like a US state is delusional.

“Carney seems like a hardworking Canadian. Contrast that to Pierre.”

So hard working he ripped off Pierre’s talking points and platform!

Why work hard to convince Canadians that the carbon tax is the best option dealing with climate change, when I can just use Pierre’s platform and outright cancel it! In the name of getting elected… Axe the Tax!
