Also why is it used as a pejorative? Doesn’t everyone want to be elite? Why would we want someone who is not elite running the country?

I find the whole discussion gross, trite and hypocritical. We hate successful and hard working people now? WTF?
A guy born in the NWT, grew up in Edmonton, son of a homemaker and school principal ends up going to Harvard and getting a doctorate from Oxford and then ends up as a VP at Goldman Sachs and eventually the Governor of two G7 Central Banks. I'm supposed to hate this because he came from a middle class family and worked his way to the top?
I swear. People have lost their fucking minds.
If that was the story of my kid, my relative or my friend's kid, I'd be damn proud of them.
Also, we've gone from "Run government like a business," to "Be suspicious of business experience. Trust the guy whose only job outside politics was a paper route."
I always wait to see the platforms before deciding. But the rhetoric from conservatives is really starting to gross me out here. The attacks on Carney's kid remind me of the attacks on Chretien's disability.
