But lately he (9 times out of 10 a dude) is telling you how Canada deserved the tariffs because we elected Trudeau and how Trump is right. I presume this might turn some would be CPC voters off.

I'll be honest. I am not sure I want to be on the same team as Build.it, for example.

I've come across people like this. They are too far down the rabbit hole. It's bizarre. They pretty much have the same views:

-Trudeau ruined Canada
-COVID is a hoax/mild flu, or it's a Government conspiracy
-Don't give any money to Ukraine, as it's their own fault
-Soros and the WEF control the World
-obsessed with Transgenders
-the Freedom Convoy are heroic people fighting for my rights
-Canada is turning into a Communist state, etc.

They all support Trump and Poilievre. My guess it's lack of critical thinking skills, or perhaps they are brainwashed by right wing misinformation. They also happen to be younger in age. That is my experience anyway,,,

Yet nary a peep about how Elongated Arm Extension Muskrat has infiltrated the highest levels of the government, to the benefit of his own firms.

That's all you need to know about these people.

This also would be known as the "Danlelle Smith" method. Instead of this method working, it backfired. I've seen news reports that Trump now is under the impression that Alberta and Saskatchewan are the "weakest links" in terms of provinces, and the Americans can target Alberta with enemy propaganda, in order to sew disenfranchisement within our confederation.

I honestly cannot believe that Ford, Smith, and Moe are embarrassing themselves with this "make nice" approach. Trump is not a leader that is rational. We have to put on a strong and united front. We also have to stand up to him, and not back down. Trump has a history of backing down when confronted. Look at how Mexico is dealing with the situation. Their leader stood her ground, and made no attempt to go to Washington to appease Trump, and it is paying off.

The absolute worst thing Canadian leaders can do, is to go out of our way to appease Trump. We are not Austria and this is not 1938.

In retrospect, allocating $1.3 billion in funds for border security was a massive mistake, and Trump viewed it as a sign of weakness. It was based off a lie, and he has no intention of calling off tariffs no matter what Canada did. Of course, Trudeau going to Mar-a-lago was a massive blunder too.

It's official - Mark Carney is now Prime Minister of Canada!

The long nine year nightmare of JT Woketarianism and economic mismanagement is over.

Now to deal with the imminent threat of Trumpian political and economic terrorism.

Not a minute to lose...........

Ironically, a lot of Trumps rhetoric about the Americans getting ripped off is false, but this same rhetoric is much more fitting for Canada when you look at declining GDP per capita, red tape, housing prices that are 20x annual average gross income, much higher income and capital gains tax than the US.

I have a bad feeling this statement wont age well.

Trudeau is the naive elite college kid trying to impress everyone while Carney is the net zero ideologue with nothing to lose.

I can't believe Im saying this, but I have a feeling I'll be missing 2025 Trudeau.

I think you've been watching too many CPC attack ads. Carney's ideology is pragmatism more than anything. He understands the times we live in and economic stabilty is his priority.

And this is all that I am asking for. People need political and economic stability in order to plan their lives. Ideologues and activists are the enemy of stability.

What I do not understand for the life of me, is that George Soros and Bill Gates are big time philanthropists. They have contributed to all the right causes- climate change, improved education for improvised youth, improving health and human rights in developing countries, etc. Yet they end up being vilified by far right media.

OTOH, Musk, Bezos, and others have pretty much given only to the 1%, and are greedy as hell, and are looked up on favourably. It makes me think that in America, Trump is just a symptom of a society that is greedy and heartless.

This is probably a clear win for the Liberals. Which is kind of crazy you can lose by 4 points and have a strong plurality of seats. Assuming it's a huge lead in Quebec and Atlantic Canada and around a tie in Ontario with NDP in high teens in Ontario that could even be a majority. (I'm assuming high NDP vote and a Lib-Con tie means Libs are winning close races in 416 over NDP And 905 over Cons). A stretch maybe but kind of crazy to think 34% has any chance to be a majority and 36 36 15 with these breakdowns likely would be a majority.

I agree. I think history will be kind to Trudeau. The things people complain about were issues that happened in every country....he got us through a pandemic...daycare, dental care, marijuana, .....carbon tax was a good program that has lowered Canada's emissions....he's lowered taxes, made massive investments in public transit...Canada Child Benefit......housing may have been late, but HAF and other programs will be transformational...

Virtue signaling was his biggest problem....plastic straws, tampons in men's washrooms...those kinds of things....he pushed a bit too far.

I'm not shocked by CPC numbers.

I'm shocked by the 12% for the Greens and 5% for the other parties. Hopefully, at least the latter number is statistical noise.
Although they're by no means the majority, the Green umbrella includes a segment of the population that blame vaccines, big pharma and GMOs for the world's ills. They're loving RFK Jr and willing to overlook the rest.
