They are talking about how great PM Trudeau's speech was and Ontario Premier Doug Ford talking tough about tariffs on NBC and other American media outlets.

Poilievre has the opportunity to rise to the challenge and demonstrate leadership skills, but is failing in this moment. His recent speech was little reported, low energy and he seemed to lack confidence. His voice is more monotone than I've ever heard. He also looks tired and rough like someone that's not getting much sleep.

Meanwhile US media outlets are even interviewing NDP leader, Jagmeet Singh during this time. No Poilievre coverage.

Funny thing is, when Poilievre isn't yelling and screaming he is actually quite boring to listen to. His strength is channeling anger, pointing out whats wrong, being condescending with sly remarks and 3 word zingers. When you put this guy into a serious situation he fumbles bad. Immediately becomes awkward and tired.

He has made his name being the anti Trudeau. But the world has changed and he needs to pivot. The only problem is that he is not trained to do that. He looks like a fish out of water. If he is like this during the campaign he will lose.

travis, you're right. He sounds boring. I can't believe I'm saying this but he makes me miss milquetoast/bland Stephen Harper haha

Whereas even though I don't like DoFo I could listen to long format interviews if US media would give him the time

An American forumer texted me "He ain't playing. He's riled up"
From NBC on Monday

If PP fails, maybe DoFo will take his place.

I am not a Ford fan, but I prefer him greatly over the aggressive apple eater.

PP's style of conservatism frankly scares me. Too much focused on the social aspects in general and focused on stuff that shouldn't need to be focused on in general.

DoFo feels more like old school conservatism. He's got some issues and hangups I don't like; but his brand is more acceptible to me than PP's style is.

I know I would never vote for either of them. But PP triggers "anyone but him" reactions in me, while DoFo, I wouldn't feel bad if he got into power. I wouldn't like it, but it wouldn't fill me with dread like PP does.

Im one of those classic Ontario Ford/Trudeau voters. There are quite a few of us. Ford does not have the same type of Conservatism found in the federal wing of the party. It's old school PC style, which I don't mind at all.

In 2022 I voted for Ford, and I did again last week. I also voted Trudeau in 2015/2019 and 2021. I know Trudeau got under lots of peoples skin, but he never had that effect on me. Every politician has their good and bad. I accepted JT's flaws, but in each election he was the most logical choice in my mind.

Jason Kenny is making himself heard again.

That said Liberal Voting closes on Friday.

We don't have a ton of exposure to Ford here in BC but I would definitely welcome an old school PC style government. Our Conservative party out here in BC is cut from the PP/Alberta mold and are unappealing to say the least.

Ford is a crook. But he's our crook. That's the difference.

He's also a generally well meaning two bit crook, not a toxic master manipulator and agent of chaos like Adolph Drumpf.

Some people might be planning for a world in which PP loses the election. I wouldn’t be surprised if Kenny is one of them. Doug Ford would be a good pick for the conservatives but I couldn’t imagine him ever speaking French.

I find the constant nicknames/name calling (not just you, most people) to be childish and distract from the good actual content that people write, but on top of that I have to ask - is there a joke/pun you're getting at by spelling Adolf with a ph?

I only noticed because if you're going for rhyming / tying in with "Drumpf" why wouldn't you use the normal F spelling? The incongruity bothers me almost as much as all the name calling

My apologies. Adolph is a variant spelling of Adolf. It is valid, and my usage of this spelling convention is probably because I live in Moncton, and Adolphe is not an uncommon (albeit somewhat archaic) Acadian name. I will endeavor in the future to spell my pejorative euphemism for the current occupant of the White House with an "f" and not a "ph."

I will not however refer to the current occupant of the White House by his real name. He does not deserve this courtesy. Drumpf is his family's ancestral name, He is Adolf(ph) because he is a petulant, childish, arrogant tyrant bully man-child.

It may be childish, but I find the way some names are re-imagined quite funny. Elon Musk is now "extended arm" or something, and every time I see him mentioned the name gets longer

I'm not sure it got stomped....he won by 1.5% of the popular vote.

Good god, no. Doug Ford plays a strong man on TV, but he's not actually strong.

It worked yesterday during his press conference because he's a mob boss (a junior one) speaking the same language as another, more senior mob boss (Donald Trump). Even a broken clock can be right twice a day.

I think there IS something wrong with Pierre. If the hyper partizans would be honest we could have an honest discussion (unlike before with Freeland).

I said there was something wrong with both Biden and Freeland long before anybody else in my circles. I'm not a doctor (we already have one here) but I don't think I need a Phd to tell something is not right or out of the usual.

He has always been comfortable jousting with reporters or having fun on the campaign trail. He is comfortable in the HofC and anywhere else I've seen him so I don't buy anything his haters are saying as the reason for his off character behaviour.

The only non physical health related reason that I can venture is he is cracking under the pressure, otherwise I think it is health related. Something has changed in his life to have changed his previously confident behaviour.

I don't think it would be fear of losing the election, because if he is having issues that would be a relief. it might be fear of winning, in a time of crisis. I don't think it has anything to do with changing policies or anything like that.

What I've seen in the last two speeches is not the usual Pierre.

Do we want to spread Ontario's misfortune and poor governance and blow it up into a national crisis? Doug Ford has been catastrophic for Ontario, I can't imagine him becoming PM, that thought is sickening.

Exactly. Doug Ford is the red neck version of JT's preformative politics. He'd be the worst possible candidate as Conservative PM. He'd basically be another version of JT and lead Canada into oblivion.

I am as tired of Governor and PeePee as I am of Carbon Tax Carney as I am of whatever variation of Trump there is. We're supposed to be adults

It is amazing how we have allowed one man to influence our behaviour towards our worse selves. Again, guilty as charged but I'm getting really tired of it, isn't anybody else?

More confessions (that nobody wants to hear)

I am a Conservative but I don't drink all the KoolAid. I want to be objective and give credit where it is due.

I have been very proud of the maturity and leadership that Trudeau, Joly and LeBlanc have shown in this crisis, only tempered by the despair of where was that the past nine years.

I've been proud of the tough guy approach of Ford, someone has to be the bad guy. I just wish he'd stop repeating the same thing how we love Americans all the time.

I had been disappointed in Danielle Smith who has not been "all in" until I heard her last interview. It was a change of tone, perhaps a realization that her approach is not going to work. I was disappointed to read the comments by people who had obviously "listened' with their ears closed.

I have been disappointed to see Pierre looking lost in the last two appearances I've seen. Something is going on there.

Frankly, I'm getting more and more tired of fighting my fellow Canadians and not the real enemy.
