That's probably given Trump too much credit. His advisers (especially Stephen Miran) understand it, but I doubt Trump has the interest or focus to deep dive into the mechanics of tariffs. In his mind, tariffs are shouldered by foreign companies, and gives him cover to cut income taxes.

In a street up fight where the policy is 50-50 I would put my money on the BC Wine Growers over Rogers every-time. They have a lot more votes and networks with BC MPs/MLAs than Rogers does. Car Dealers, Dairy Farmers, all the upper middle class living in small town and rural areas have an outsized influence.

Canada Goose parkas are a dime a dozen these days. Walk around the Rideau Centre, and probably a good 20% of people have one one. Also plenty of people with Moose Knuckles or Rusdaks. They're pricey, but great for the -20 weather that Ottawa often gets. If you travel up north to the subarctic, you'll find North Mart which stocks things like essential groceries, toiletries, meds, and Canada goose jackets. Despite these places not having the high incomes that you see in a place like Yellowknife, there are still plenty of people wearing the jackets.

Also, $1500 is nothing in 2025 Canada. That's like 1/1000th the price of a house, so about $200 in 2005 dollars.

Oh dude, really? Now do Singh, Mr Maserati, Rolex, at least in Public off Daddy's money and of course the P.M. made VERY wealthy because his Grandfather worked bloody hard to build something.

PP is closer to the average Canadian that just happened to get re elected a number of times. Folks in his riding could have sent him packing many times but....

Is 1 liter of orange juice unreasonable? The cost is about the arrangements we have and not bringing sufficient supplies on board. Though obviously all involved learned their lesson.

I like that Singh has a quasi sense of high style. Tailored double breasted pinstripe suits and a Maserati. Very Brampton of him, like “I got here and Im gonna do it up”. Unlike all the other typical frumpy looking MPs.

Politics aside, it’d be fun to hang with Jagmeet 😄

This is the Canadian mindset that leads us to demolishing the Prime Minister's Official Residence because we were too stingy to pay the money to do basic upkeep.
