If Trump were intelligent he would understand tariffs will just be costs passed along to the consumer/his voting base.

How am I an ideologue? Trump isn't a Democrat, he's a far right republican with fascist tendencies.
There's a huge difference between being intelligent, and doing smart things. Trump is clearly a highly intelligent person, as no one can be that funny without being intelligent. I don't think Pierre has a single funny bone in his body.
I lost all respect for Trump way back when he pulled the BS about Obama and the birth certificate, but I'm not going to try and pretend that he's not an intelligent person, because he clearly is, even if a lot of what he does is stupid, dangerous, and reprehensible. I have no issue admitting that Poilievre isn't a complete scumbag like Trump is, but no, I still don't think Poilievre is more intelligent than Trump
I think Trump will have no problem manipulating PP compared to Carney.

It's not just that Carney is more ideologically unimpeachable than Poilievre, he's more intelligent, and far more versed in negotiating with businesspeople, and Trump is a businessman. Moreover, I think Carney has a higher ethnical standard than Poilievre, and I just don't see Trump manipulating Carney like he would PP.
Poilievre is well aware that significant part of his base are fans of Trump, and that he won't be doing himself any favours by being too publicly critical of Trump. Carney doesn't have to worry about this balancing act of not offending Canadians who like Trump, while still sticking up for Canada, Poilievre absolutely has to worry about this.
