It's a reconstruction of the interior, and three additional floors (one of them a recreation of the original building that was lopped off after a much earlier fire than the one more recently). Details on the Changing City blog

There's two ziplines setup for the Grey Cup festivities down at Canada Place.

Quote:
Over the water, you say. That’s correct. The RBC Harbour Zip-Line will transport fans from the Convention Centre East to Convention Centre West, the second building serving as the main epicentre for all of the Grey Cup team parties, including Lion’s Den which has been a major hit at the last two festivals in Hamilton and Regina. If the nautical way proves to be too daunting for some, fans can opt for the CarStar Street Zip-Line right in front of the Convention Centre buildings. Not a bad way to celebrate the Grey Cup fun.

Looks good . Thanks jrdtown for posting.
Signage is not what I expected. it's a little too monolithic, i was thinking it would be more flamboyant, curvy with some flare and color, maybe some colored neon lighting.

I guess it's an homage to the old neon sign.

It should have literally looked like that.

Their previous blade sign rendering.

Cineplex's marketing people must have forced them into consistency with their branding and trademarks.
It is on the small side - depth and height. It should extend well above the roof line - unless the City objected to anything too big.

Even the new Winners sign looks undersized.

, and after he shoveled that gunk out of the drain hole, he was contemplating if he should throw it over the side into the water below.

If you look over some of the benches on the bridge they probably need to wash and recoat the steel girders as well.

They have a problem with cormorants on the Second Narrows

I'd bet you $20 the city doesn't want new signage to conflict with the listed historical signage.
Or you know, take away from the old signage that makes it the "entertainment district" by adding new and equally snazzy signage.

No fun allowed.

I don't think the City would have objected to a taller sign, but the are some serious structural problems with having something higher than the building. The new sign extends above the original facade to the height of the roof above the newly added floor above and behind the facade. Higher than that, you start to have to accommodate much greater wind forces on the sign and still meet seismic code as well. The sign must be anchored through the old facade into the new frame behind, but the top floor is set back, so there's a limit to how high up the building it can be fastened.

The solution in the 1960s, when it was the Coronet, was to have a huge steel pylon attached to the roof, and then boxed in, (and that was before seismic codes existed). With the additional floor on the new building, that wouldn't work particularly well.
