I think this project, or one very much like it, could be done in Vancouver, but it would mean doing it big-time, and I don't think the city has the wherewithalll on any metric to handle doing it.
As someone born here, but having lived many years overseas, (if thatcounts for anything), seeing this project makes me think that it must belong somewhere, but where? I say midtown/downtown east.
Sure, it could go out to Burnaby or Surrey, but this is Vancouver, and this one has to go somewhere, Perhaps partly down east Pender, where there is already a new high rise, or farther east down east Hastings.
However, that one is problematic, and as someone said, made worse by lack of parskapce and livable public space. I might say "go nuclear" on that low, low stretch of road, make it green, build this, maybe a medical facility... using the space between the buildings to make them both as functional but as green and elegant as possible.... imagine curving walkways, elegant stairways, beautiful greenspaces, maybe a fountain ... / but

Hey/ upon waking up / this would mean it being a $$megaproject, and that'll grind it to a screeching halt before it even gets moving. Sad outlook on this, I fear an opportunity lost
