heheh... Probably true...

I wonder if Calgary has the same sorts of issues that we have with our transit system. I am assuming yes.

Neither do I. Having this type of 'station' for EPS/Peach Officers at the main junction of three LRT lines makes complete sense.

Yup, it's something you see globally too, even in Japan with their, albiet smaller, Kōbans. Makes sense to me.

I was called this morning to start Inspections of the welded sections of the LRT concrete piers.

Ruh Roh.....It was Cancelled late this afternoon because major cracks were found in the welds!!

I don't know how many welds were affected or when the welds will be repaired.

Are those welds on the sections of the piers that were repaired/reinforced when the major cracks and rebar issues were 'discovered' last year?

I'm not 100% sure at the moment...I will find out more today hopefully. But I suspect this is it. If I can I will take a couple pics. The main Engineering firm said they had my manlift and safety lanyard ready at least lol.

I took the #73 bus to visit a relative at the Grey Nuns. This is a route that sort of fills in for the expected LRT route.

Along the route I witnessed three separate incidents where individuals jaywalked across the tracks.

This should end well.

I think those people would get hit on any old street by any old vehicle any other day.

Motor vehicles and their operators can brake quickly enough to avoid an errant pedestrian. The tram cannot.

Older fare vending machines turn off November 1
October 18, 2023

On November 1, Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) will decommission older fare vending machines across the transit system and begin to replace them with Arc fare vending machines. This initiative is part of the continued implementation of the regional Arc fare payment system.

Riders will no longer be able to purchase ETS paper tickets or passes from these machines in transit spaces. Single-use Arc tickets and reloadable Arc cards can be purchased through Arc fare vending machines. These Arc fare products will provide the majority of riders with a comparable fare option and offer more modern payment methods, including payment by cash, debit or credit cards. For more information on Arc, visit myArc.ca.

The decommissioned machines will be turned off until they can be removed and replaced. On-site signage will indicate machines are no longer in operation and will direct riders to Arc fare vending machines. Once the older fare vending machines are removed, Arc fare vending machines will be moved into their place.

All fare products that were available in the older machines, including paper tickets, will remain available at ETS sales outlets throughout the city and through the online ETS store: shop.edmonton.ca. ETS paper ticket validators will also remain available in transit spaces.

Will the SELRT open before or after the THIRD (3rd) anniversary of its original opening date of 'December 2020'?

Odds?

Lol my vote is before. I wonder if they're choosing now to shut off the old TVMs because Valley Line only has Arc?

I think its absolutely ridiculous they are charging $6 for an ARC Card. max they should be charging is $1. I would also argue, they should be free if you load $10 or more for the first time.
