That's the problem. The right lane is so often taken away that it might as well not exist. The conventional rule of multi lane highways is "keep left unless overtaking". But in Alberta it's "know which lane will lead you to the exit, probably the middle or left lane, and move into immediately. Then go 10km/h below the speed limit".

It wouldn't be so bad if they were marked as exit lanes, but they are not, they are marked as through lanes.
