Telus definitely got the air rights - believe it or not.

Thanks for the side-by-side comparison.

I like the newer version better.

There's less clashing of styles on the tower - the clash of vertical stripes on Georgia (from the V columns upwards) and horizontal spandrel stripes on the west (and east?) facades is gone and the kitschy-ness of the "add-on" protruding box has been eliminated by enlarging it and making it the sole focus.

Not sure I like the irregular wall behind the sculptural canopy. I still don't like the cross-bracing on the podium - it doesn't tie-in to either the V columns of the tower or the sculptural canopy. It's like it's someone's contribution that couldn't be deleted.

There is a danger however, that the facade (glass and spandrels) could be as "blah gray" as Shaw Tower (another Westbank project). Hopefully the east and west curtain walls on the tower will have some life to them (i.e. coluour in the glass and spandrels) so that they "pop" and appear as separate planes sandwiching the tower.

The mechanical penthouse looks bigger (and the rooftop solar panels (?) look higher up).
