Some comments: - The first three or four pictures from top are of 17th Street, which is also the part of Dupont that I live in (just moved from Ballston, for those of you keeping score at home).
- Your third picture from top shows the Cairo apartment building, which is notorious. It is the reason DC has a height limit. When it was built in 189x, proto-NIMBYs flipped out and got Congress to enact the height limit. It is to this day the tallest residential building in the District (it is 164 feet).
- The building that you say you adore near the zoo is very interesting. Half of it is new! When the owner wanted to expand his historic building, he pulled out the original plans and expanded according to them. Every detail of the new section matches the old section exactly. It is a bona-fide contemporary art-deco building.
- Some of the pictures from Friendship Heights are actually in Maryland.
